Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Netanyahu, has been made a member of the powerful Central Committee of the ruling Likud party in an unelected appointment, according to Hebrew media reports.
His name was listed among the members of Likud’s Ma’ale Yosef regional branch near Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. Although Central Committee elections were held in November, Yair Netanyahu did not run in them and appears to have been appointed as part of internal party agreements.
The Likud Central Committee is the party’s leading representative body. It is responsible for approving major policy decisions and party rules.
