Israel has approved 17 new projects worth 8–9 billion shekels to upgrade major highways.

* Planned work includes upgrades to Highways 44, 4, and 40, along with other key routes.

* On Highway 44, a major upgrade is planned, including new interchanges, wider lanes, a dedicated public transportation lane, a bus terminal, and bicycle paths, at a cost of about 2 billion shekels.

* Officials say the projects are intended to improve traffic flow and strengthen public transportation.
