In a video shared exclusively with YWN, the Chabad rabbi in Jalisco, Mexico, released a statement addressing the ongoing unrest following the reported killing of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” the longtime leader of the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG):
“As you may know, Jalisco, Mexico, and parts of the country are currently on high alert following the killing of a leader of the criminal organization known as the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación. In response, there have been violent incidents reported, including vehicles being set on fire, road blockages, and multiple shootings in different areas of the state”.
“Rabbi Abraham and Elisheva Srugo, who have served as Chabad directors in the state of Jalisco for over 26 years, encountered narco-related road blockages on the highway while traveling to officiate a wedding approximately four hours from the city of Guadalajara. Due to the situation and widespread shutdowns, the event was canceled”.
