Jerusalem Brothers Charged For Posing As IDF Intel Operative, Sending Fake AI Info To Iran

Two brothers from the Jerusalem area have been charged after posing as an IDF Unit 8200 soldier and passing information to Iranian operatives via Telegram, receiving over 100,000 shekels in return.

According to the indictment, much of the information was fabricated using AI, including documents made to appear like official Unit 8200 material and false claims about Israeli actions in Iran.

Their attorney argues this was not espionage but an attempt to “scam” and mislead the Iranians — even claiming the state should reward them rather than prosecute.
