A federal appeals court said that U.S. District Judge James Boasberg must end his “intrusive” contempt investigation into the Trump administration over deportation flights carrying Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.
• The court said Boasberg abused his discretion in moving forward with criminal contempt proceedings tied to the March 2025 deportation flights, in a ruling by a three-judge panel on the D.C. Circuit.
• The Trump administration has a “clear and indisputable” right to the termination of the contempt proceedings, Circuit Judge Neomi Rao wrote in the majority opinion.
