MANHATTAN: 3 Dead, Multiple Critical In Deadly Apartment Fire

Three people were killed and at least five others are in critical condition after a fast-moving fire tore through a multi-story apartment building on Dyckman Street early Monday morning.

Firefighters arriving just after 12:35 a.m. encountered chaotic scenes, with residents attempting to escape by climbing down fire escapes.

Despite rescue efforts, three victims died from the fire and smoke. In total, 14 people were injured, including five listed in critical condition. A firefighter was also hurt.

The blaze destroyed eight apartments and left 100 residents homeless.
