California firefighters continue battling multiple wildfires, with the Sandy Fire in Simi Valley remaining one of the biggest threats after forcing large-scale evacuations and damaging homes.

•⁠ ⁠More than 17,000 residents were placed under evacuation orders as crews used helicopters, air tankers, and hundreds of firefighters to slow the blaze.

•⁠ ⁠California’s largest wildfire of the year is also burning on Santa Rosa Island, where more than 16,000 acres have already been scorched.
