Rockland County: Tropical Storm Andrea Causes Hazardous Weather

andreaRockland County may have to brace itself for a weekend of wicked weather as a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the area with the arrival of Tropical Storm Andrea.

The remainder of Thursday will be mostly cloudy with heavy rain in the evening. That rain will continue through Friday with a 30 percent chance of showers on Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The hazardous weather outlook is in effect for Friday.

“A weak frontal system approaching from the west tonight into Friday will be followed by the post-tropical remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea passing into the southeast Friday night,” the NWS says. “Extensive tropical moisture associate with these systems could result in heavy rainfall and urban and small stream flooding from Friday into Saturday morning.”

Rain could accumulate up to four inches or more, however the NWS has ruled out coastal flooding at this time.
