Rockland County: Police Investigate Flag Burning In Parking Lot Of Palisades Mall


usflThe Clarkstown Police Department is investigating a flag burning arson attack that occurred in the parking lot of the Palisades Mall, aisle G41, on Monday, June 17 shortly after 11 p.m.

Witnesses observed a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck with the bed of the truck on fire. Two American flags which were attached to poles on either side of the bed which were set on fire. The flags burning embers caught the bed of the truck on fire causing damage to that area of the truck. The West Nyack Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the flames.

The truck had other political icons including a sticker which read, “Welcome to the USA. Press 1 for English, Press 2 to disconnect until you learn to speak English,” and an NRA sticker.

Currently, witnesses describe a small red vehicle parked a few spots away from the pickup truck. The vehicle was possibly occupied by two white females and one black male wearing a blue baseball cap. This vehicle was observed leaving the area in a hurry as the fire began.
