Brooklyn H.S. Beams After Obama Praise

A Brooklyn high school is as proud as it was surprised by President Barack Obama’s praise of its innovative program in his state-of-the-union address.

Obama singled out P-Tech high school in Crown Heights Wednesday night as he outlined plans to arm high school graduates with associate’s degrees leading to high-tech jobs.

Obama said the school graduates students with a high school diploma and an associate degree in computers or engineering.

The president said “We need to give every American student opportunities like this.”

P-Tech is a collaboration of the New York Public Schools, the City University of New York and IBM.

P-Tech principal Rashid David told WCBS-Radio he couldn’t believe the president gave a shout out to his school.
