Save The Girl From A Malignant Disease: Donors Will Be Saved From All Harm And Disease

The ‘Meirim Tzedaka fund’ is calling to Klall Yisroel, asking to please respond to the plea made by our Gedolim, and help save the life of a young girl who is sick with a rare malignancy and in need of expensive treatment in the US. Hagaon Rabbi Y. Zilberstein, Shlita, Hagaon Rabbi S. A. Stern, Shlita and Hagaon Rabbi S.M. Amar, Shlita have all written rare endorsements for this tragic case with a promise: ‘in the merit of this mitzva donors will be spared all trouble and distress.’

This is a plea that pulls at our heartstrings: The ‘Meirim tzedakah fund’ is coming out with a desperate call to all Yidden to please respond generously to the appeal made by Gedolei Yisroel and to assist them in saving the life of a sick girl, who is suffering from a rare tumor — a tumor that cannot be cured in Eretz Yisroel. The patient, a young girl, is in tremendous pain and now has to face the real possibility that her life might be cut short, r”l, when it has barely begun. Following the advice of HaGaon, Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Shlita, she was flown to the USA for special medical treatment which cost 200,000nis —this was the only hope they had for saving her life.

After this tragic case was brought to the attention of the Gedolim, they issued an urgent appeal to all G-d fearing Yidden — who have the merit of being “AREIVIM ZEH L’ZE” – who bear responsibility for each other — to extend a listening ear to this patient’s weak cry, a cry that cannot help but pierce our heart. She is begging us, from the very depth of her being: Don’t turn away. Save my life.

In his appeal Hagaon Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Shlita, makes a rare request, writing: “This girl needs a Refuah Sheleimah. She has fallen ill with a rare, malignant disease that is unfamiliar to doctors in our Holy land. At my behest, they have flown to the USA, and we hope that the doctors there will be the good messengers that bring about her recovery. The financial expenses are huge, and, with Hashem’s help, Meirim have come to her aid. May they who extend their support and dear donors be saved from all disease and harmful events. May we see the fulfilment of the verse: ‘For I am Hashem, your healer!’”.

Backing this powerful plea by Rabbi Zilberstein — which comes with his rare promise to donors that they be saved from all harm, is HaGaon, Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Stern, Shlita, who wrote in his letter: “I am in full agreement with the passionate statement made by the Gaon Muvhak, Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Shlita, and he who saves one soul in Yisroel will merit to be saved from any trouble and distress, affliction and disease”.

The Rav of Yerushalayim, the Rishon LeTzion, HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, Shlita, has lent his voice to this lifesaving call, writing: “I have seen the special endorsement given by his honor, HaRav HaGaon Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Shlita, who warmly supports the Meirim fund for taking upon itself to help cover the medical costs of this girl. The girl is sick with a harsh, rare disease, lo aleinu, and anyone who takes pity on people, Heaven takes pity on him, and ‘praiseworthy is he who looks after the poor, on a day of calamity, Hashem will rescue him’”.

This entreaty from leading Rabbonim is spreading among Yidden — Yidden who are merciful and do not stand by idly, but wish to participate in this holy mitzvah of saving the life of a suffering patient. Surely, they shall merit the fulfilment of this rare promise by the Gedolim, to be spared all trouble and distress.

It is worth noting that the Meirim fund, which has earned the trust of Gedolei Yisroel, works all year round to support and offer treatment to medical patients in distress. They fly patient to expensive treatments abroad and help subsidize the cost of lifesaving medications. The fund comes under the aegis of the “Shavat Aniyim” charity, which also offers support and financial aid to large families, bringing joy and hope to needy people.
