Camp Hasc Hosts Rav Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia, this Past Sunday


Camp HASC had the great zechus to host Rav Berel Lazar shlita, Chief Rabbi of Russia, this past Sunday. It was a heartwarming and uplifting visit that the special campers and staff will always remember.

Rav Lazar’s whirlwind visit was coordinated by Mr. Abe Eisner, HASC Chairman, and began with great excitement when the helicopter touched-down in the camp HASC sports complex on the baseball field.

With great sensitivity, patience and warmth, Rav Lazar greeted every individual as he walked through camp. Rav Lazar and the honored guests were greeted with lively niggunim, campers and staff dancing and singing. It was a day jam packed with beautiful moments. Long time Camp Director, Mr. Shmiel Kahn, welcomed Rav Lazar and an delegation of honored guests, noted Askanim and friends of Camp HASC, including Mr. Fischel Beigel,  Mr. Moshe Avrohom Lazar, Mr. Yumie Spira, Mr. Chaim Meisels, Mr. Chaim Piekarski, Mr. Shmiel Bash, and Mr. Muty Kohn.

At the camp wide Kabbolas Panim, Rav Lazar had an opportunity to meet and spend time with an ecstatic group of Yaldei HaSheluchim. It was so special to witness the love and attention Rav Lazar paid to these campers as well as the hundreds of other campers and staff. While touring the beautiful Camp HASC’s adaptive campus, Rav Lazar visited the pool, therapy complex and sensory room, and spent quality time immersed in the Camp HASC spirit, remarking that “every inch of this campus is filled with Ahavas Yisrael”.

In sharing inspiring Divrei Bracha, Rav Lazar shared the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s message that everyone has a special shlichus in the world to fulfill, and expressed how impressed he was with the Mesirus Nefesh and dedication of the staff and noted that the counselors grow unimaginably by taking care of these special neshamos . “Hakadosh Baruch Hu promises that when you take care of His children, he will take care of yours”.

An unforgettable day of chizuk and support for the special children of Camp HASC, their families, staff and all of Klal Yisroel.
