Moscow – Food for poor distributed for Succos

15,000 humanitarian aid packages were distributed among indigent Jewish families by the Shaarey Tzedek charitable organization in Moscow.

This humanitarian campaign was initiated by Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar and was carried out thanks to the assistance of Jewish businessmen, members of the Jewish Community of Moscow.

Around 200 elderly Jews took the opportunity of spending the holiday of Sukkot, studying the Torah and national traditions at a resort house near Moscow with full board.

The Jewish Community has also arranged transportation for those wanting to visit the graves of their relatives in Jewish cemeteries prior to the holiday.

The humanitarian campaign also included the change of old windows at homes of elderly and lonely community members who regularly suffer from winter frosts.
