**Yerushalayim Mayor gets attacked**

A short while ago the Mayor of Yerushalayim (Mayor Lupolianski) was attacked while attending a Simcha in Meah Shearim. He was attending a Sheva Brachos of the daughter of R’ Shmuel Markowitz Shlita (Rosh Yeshiva in Ponavez) at “B’nos Yisroel Simcha Hall” located on Rechov Baran. Upon exiting the hall he was confronted by a huge crowd of angry people. A fight erupted with glass bottles, rocks & eggs thrown at the Mayor. Riot police were called in to disperse the angry crowd. [R’ Eliyashiv Shlita was in attendance at the Sheva Brachos.]

  1. Let me tell u wot happened. Hundreds of yerushaliema chasidim attacked the mayor as he came out of the hall because officially he has got the koiach to prevent the parade. He hasnt done anything. Bekizar all the ponevitche bocherim took the mayors side and a all out war broke out involving guys getting their heads smashed with bricks eggs crates. Then from both ends of rechov barran riot police arrived in full gear scattering the oilem and escorted the mayor to safety. It was terrible to watch. Specially when one knows that there is hundreds of others fighting the police and here we got jews against jews. Anyway what was good to hear was that when it was over one guy called out for everyone to go to fight the police down mea sheorim.

  2. After this post, and especially with comments like Barran 16 “Anyway what was good to hear was that when it was over one guy called out for everyone to go to fight the police” I am afraid i can no longer say the police are wrong.

  3. Mr bal boose, if u dont mind me saying, u should rethink ur words. Im here in israel and can see wots going on live. Maybe regarding the mayor storie u can say that the police have got right. But that doesn’t have to do with the fighting of the parade. Have u seen wot these beasts do to the yidden that they catch. They beat the living daylights out of them. Just last nite a bocher came past my dira in the early hours of the morning just coming back from hospital. He was walking through kikar shabbos innocently, nd he say every1 running so he also ran and went up a building. 1 of there sick ruthless ‘police’ followed him up and beat him 4 times on the head with a heavy duty stick causing a whole in his head. This bocher was taken to hospital and treated boruch hashem but do u see wot i mean. And YOU have the guts to say that u understand the police….

  4. baal boose –
wot do you mean ‘im afraid i can no longer say the police are wrong’!! Take the next flight over here and watch as the nazi’s (police) just randomly hit anything and anybody mercilessly every night…wrong’s the wrong word!!

  5. Is it, or was it ever, within the Mayor’s power to stop the parade? Isn’t it the Attorney General who declared that the parade was legal according to the laws of the State, and should therefore be permitted to proceed? The underlying problem is, of course, that the laws of the State bear little relationship to r’tzon Haborei yisborach shmo. Who actually has the power and authority to grant or to deny permission for the parade to go on?

  6. Plz bal habööse think that little bit deeper then ur name violence is wrong but go in the ring with a bull an wave ur red hankerchief at it….! Thats exactly wats goin on here lets not call them hareidim or some negative term like which the papers go with real rather bnei torah the dearest children of hashem hu get truly upset when such abominabel acts go straight against the holy torah of our dear father nothing worse then out right thousands of red flags being thrown in to our face an jus sittin in our places tame an sayin o well there r sick people in the world is not only wrong an showin the holy torah means nothin to me an am a jew cause i was born that way.. It is a sin if we dont go out an show our anger.. Famous words from the brisker rov OYB SE TIT VEY SHRITE-MEN! (if it hurts u scream).. So if there is no pain let us not b silly enough to write about it an show how far we are!….
yes i am one of those in the neighbourhood of the kidush hashem riots an i can truly an honestly hear the world hu is watchin these riots sayin its a holy city an ppl hu want disrupt it are wrong an should go to la or other tuma places to show how they have no control…..!
let them try ROME i dare them!!..
an a big YES these police are no better then nazis if some one could beat a 12 year old kid with a metal bar over the head continuing stil when he is gushing wiv blood until he is so unconcious that he cant scream no more to give the nazi encouragement for more.. Then yes like baran 16 says “now for the cops” surprised he ddnt use the term nazis… Even if the kid threw a rock lit a bin……….? No other country would this b excepted!…
one last thing its really upsetting how they would rather shoot grenades at ppl which they were doin a couple of short hours ago to get ppl away frm the riots an trample on ppl wiv horses to let animals do a march to show freedom its really really sad! Ad mosay goilus zeh may this kidush hashem bring moshiach bekorov…

  7. I think bharan 16 is perfectly correct. I live very near there, and fully support him. The police were behaving completely out of order.

  8. The kanuim are old enmies of the mayor. Starting with their utter defeat in trying to get that he shouldn’t be elected. So for the last few years they are blaming him on everything happenning in the city.

  9. Mr. Baaran,
As you note the attack on the mayor, presumably unprovoked, was wrong and that is what this particular post is about.
Secondly, you say “what was good to hear was that when it was over one guy called out for everyone to go to fight the police”, is that what you call good.
Third; why can’t there be a massive and behaved protest. (Let me clue you in; if it’s true you are attacked unprovoked, implant neutral reporters that will record this. In this fashion you will both prove your point and get the police in hot water. This is what Agudah of america has done with its legal division; they managed to uncover and reverse! discriminating shtick of the biased israeli court simply by reporting it.
Fourth; I was personally told that there are elements that go there for fun and “do stuff”. This diminishes the charedi’s position. Since when are fires, broken windows and overturned cars, self defense?
Fifth; Many years ago, while I was studying in Israel, a friend and I went to observe a hafgonah of youth’s throwing rocks at cars. I was bothered and embarrassed that both the boys and myself were wearing “black hats” Theirs were more round. I did not see any beatings of any kind, and I even had an opportunity to walk over to the police and get into a debate! Very loud and verbal, till the lieutenant broke it up after 10-15 minutes. All the bochurim had to say was, the stones were “muchan” and the roshoiim deserved it.
Sixth; if there are indiscriminate attacks by the police why aren’t they documented as much as possible.
Seventh; With all due respect it’s being done stupid. Massive unviolent protests with publicized imbedded reporters would be much more effective. Oh, and it would be nice to see the rabonim and daati MK at the head of this massive unviolent march. Aren’t people who learn torah smart? They are.
PS Those dispicable Neturi Karta, why aren’t they talking to their arab buddies now?

  10. honestly speaking…tell me one good/right thing the Mayor has done since he has taken office. Gulliani did more in NY for frum Jews (and he was a goy) than this “frum” mayor has done in “Yerushalayim”!!

  11. Gevalt – first of all it is foolish to call anyone a nazi because he beats someone senseless. Is that all the nazi’s y’smv did??
It’s all this idiotic “NAZI” “NAZI” name calling that makes the term totally meaningless today. Bush is a Nazi, Rumsfeld is a Nazi, Jewish police are Nazis, Sharon is a nazi, and on and on. NO THEY AREN’T NAZIS. THEY DIDN’T RUN CONCENTRATION CAMPS TO TORTURE AND MURDER 6 MILLION JEWS DID THEY??

Call them reshoim, chayos, sadists, anything else but Nazi. Ask a Camp survivor if I’m not right.

Second of all, as has been reported the gedolim and rabbonim keep saying “NON-VIOLENT” protest. These chayos who you call “dearest children” are darshening that the gedolim “don’t really mean it”. Yeah right.
Finally the Brisker Rav ztl said, “shreit men” he didn’t say “hoket men in kop arein mit a shtein”.
