Union wants State hearings against CRMC

A day after 72 employees were laid off at Catskill Regional Medical Center, the executive vice president of New York’s largest health care union is calling for state hearings on the hospital’s management.

Mike Rifkin, Executive Vice President of the Service Employees International Union Local 1199, said it was past time the hospitals “secretive” board came up with answers on management practices.

“This is a publicly funded hospital. It’s our view this is a hospital long overdue for a public spotlight. Sunshine, if you will, on its finances, and internal relations between the board, management and doctors.”

Rifkin said 1199 is reaching out to state lawmakers.
