VIDEO: Investigation Continues After Off-Duty Police Officer Shot In Brooklyn

A police officer is recovering after being hit by a stray bullet while off duty.

Sources say the 38-year-old female officer was hit in the arm after pulling into the parking lot of a Brooklyn McDonalds.

It happened at around 4:00 p.m. Monday on Ashford Street in East New York.

“We noticed a scuffle or argument ensuing with some young people, and before she could think to do anything, shots rang out, and she was hit in her arm,” said Brooklyn City Councilman Charles Barron.

Police say the officer was not the intended target. They believe the bullet was shot from across the street.

The officer was taken to Kings Country Hospital, where Police Commissioner Ray Kelly later visited her.

Officials say police are holding one witness for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the case should call 1-800-COP-SHOT for a $10,000 reward if the information provided leads to an arrest and conviction.
