VIDEO: Joe Biden Mocks Sign Language Translator

Vice President Joe Biden just wrapped up a rousing speech at The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, Virginia — but apparently, he couldn’t quite remember where he was.

“With your help, we can win North Carolina again!” Biden told the crowd, to cheers.

The Vice President seemed unfazed by the gaffe.

He then said the following:

“I have more to say, but I am saying too much already because these guys get me going… and you’re gonna have trouble translating all this! The poor lady, she’s gonna have tendonitis by the time she finishes this.”

If this was MItt Romney or Ryan the main stream meadia would be ripping him as a cold and heartless monster.

  1. I think this was the same speech where he said to a group of people, predominantly black, that republicans want to put them back into chains.

There is no doubt Biden is a tipish but as a democrat he doesn’t get the credit because he’s a democrat & democrats are allowed to get away with these things.

  2. I am a sign language interpreter and do not find this offensive at all. His comment was more a jab at himself for talking too long. We all need to stop scrutinizing every word and gesture to see who may be offended.

I am no fan of Biden but would this headline have read the same if it was a Republican? Fair play is fair play on both sides.

  3. That is hardly ‘mocking’. It happens to be a cute self-aimed criticism, that he is talking too much and giving the translator sore hands!

  4. Personally I think he’s too dumb to have done this on purpose. He’s just a foolish old man. What scares me about all these gaffes he makes is that he’s one heart beat away from being president.

  5. Whoever wrote this article clearly has an agenda, and thats probably why it was posted here. Obviously, there is nothing “mocking” about this comment as anyone who has ever dealt with someone who signs. YWN clealy did NOT endorse these comments and has provided articles which show the extremes among supporters of both candidates. Same with his comment earlier today about Romney’s policies putting a predominantly Black audience “back in chains”. He was clearly referring to Republican proposals to reduce job training and educational assistance programs, which allow the poor to gain the skills needed for better paying jobs. No one in the audience interviewed by reporters after Biden’s speech took offense at the metaphor other than the “whites in black suits” who write press releases for the Republican National Committee.
