  1. why did yeshiva world called the rav (rabbi yosef dov Soloveitchik) Rav J. B. Soloveitchik please change it rightaway
is chutzpah to call him that

  2. You have to understand the Yiddish to get a gefil for what he’s saying. It’s just not the same with the English subtitles. Inspiring and with a nice fartzeitish Litvish accent.

  3. Subtitles are not so accurate. I don’t think “JB” was meant to be disrespectful, as long as the entire name was used. I believe it was used in the day. If it only said “JB”, and nothing else, it would be disrespectful.

  4. Wow. The M.O. are so frum (cave-men?) when it comes to imagined zilzul of their Rav. What happened to being modern, like referring to people by their secular names?

Also, he is/was “The Rav” only in the M.O. world, not to traditional Torah Jewry. And this is YWN, not YU’s The Commentator.

Regardless, just as YWN would have written for any leading Rav, YWN wrote the title “Rav” before “J.B.” which, as Uncle Ben pointed out, are the initials that he, himself, used.

You cannot reasonably accuse YWN of being mezalzel in his honor.
