HaMevaser: Chareidim Under Attack Nationwide

The Sunday daily HaMevaser reports a sharp increase in attacks against chareidim nationwide, blaming the media campaign and the new national concern, the honor women and the alleged abuse of women by the chareidi tzibur.

Reported attacks include:

1. A child riding on a number 4 bus in Yerushalayim was beaten up by non-frum youths as they made disparaging remarks about chareidim. The child under attack urged the driver to summon police, reporting he responded “sorry, it’s not my job”.

2. A chassidishe man in Haifa was physically assaulted by a non-frum lady as the two rode on a bus. She hit him over the head and threw his hat on the ground, without any provocation according to the report.

3. A chareidi male in his 30s was spat upon in the area of Jerusalem’s Davidka Square while the attacked shouted defamatory remarks at him.

4. Another man was verbally assaulted at the Davidka. The man tried to move away, to neutralize the situation, but the attacker continued cursing and shouting in an abusive tone. Police took an hour to respond and then checked the assailant’s identity card and released him. (Apparently the assailant waited around as well).

5. In Ashdod, a non-frum man opened the gas tanks of a building occupied by chareidi residents prompting a call to emergency services due to the strong smell of LP gas. When the truck arrived, the man shouted “What do you care if the blow up. They are only chareidim”.

6. Swastikas and defamatory graffiti were painted on a shul in Rova Gimmel in Ashdod on motzei Shabbos. City sanitation workers cleaned the walls. Police are investigating.

The report adds that during the past week, the mainstream media sent camera crews to chareidi communities to find areas in which men and women were segregated to further incite in their news reports.

  1. Oh – these stories are given instant credibility – but alleged assaults and actions by charedim are always ‘dan lecaf zechus,

  2. So now are we going to deny that any of these happened, just as some people refuse to believe the stories about Charedim harassing third grade girls in Bet Shemesh? Everyone needs to calm down. The Charedim are not all “under attack” nor are they all attacking others.

Instead of blaming other types of Jews, we need to work first on correcting our own community’s behavior.

  3. Horrible horrible.

Interesting that the only alleged attack was Charedei against women and all the others are factual with witnesses.

  4. Some irresponsible “haredi” people (Hamodia called them “thugs in Haredi cloth..”) open the gates of hatred of anti-religous people. What a chilul Hashem; ossid litein es hadin.

  5. So these stories are all to be believed, but when it’s Charedi violence, it’s always “alleged?”

Yes ok, no agenda to be seen here.

  6. The only way this will stop is if the rabbi in Israel go ahead and put out adds in all the news papers and on radio, and TV (yes that also)
Stating that the actions that have been happening are not the way we teach and that the people doing this are to be excommunicated and if they do it again please notify the authorities. Plus they all have to sign their names and have it video recorded so we know it is them stating it.
But of course we know that will never happen.

  7. First of all I want to say the above comments honestly disgust me and they show the crume hashkophos which you have
Second if a frum yid does something then there is a chiov to be dan lekaf zechos but a fraye not
The article proves that the outfits worn in kikar shabbos where correct becuase these poor yiddin are being treated like yidden in europe and just like then it is being looked ay like a bunch of lies
