Attacks Against Chareidi Soldiers May Prompt AG’s Intervention

idffMilitary officials are weighing the possibility of turning to the attorney general with a request to deal with attacks against chareidi soldiers with a ‘hard hand’. As the number of attacks against chareidim in IDF uniform increases, IDF officials may turn to State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to use the full weight of the law against the perpetrators.

In one case, reported by Ladaat, a chareidi soldier in the air force’s Shachar program was hassled by talmidei yeshiva on Nechemia Street, who also threw a plate of tehina at him. In another case, on Yerushalayim Street in Bnei Brak, a chareidi soldier entered a yeshiva to use the restroom. When he got inside he was physically assaulted. After askanim became involved, the rosh yeshiva phoned the soldier and apologized for the assault.

Officials add the case in which soldiers were attacked while walking through Meah Shearim in uniform.

There are reports that flyers were placed in mailboxes of chareidi soldiers living in Ashdod decrying the actions of the chardakim.

  1. Disgusting. Let them go live with the so-called palestinians, if they can’t be civilized. Next time, I hope the soldier beats their brains in.

  2. We read this article with profound sadness and disgust. Where is our ahavas yisroel? WHY do we not hear an outcry from our leaders about such abhorrent behavior? As proud parents of a son who made aliyah and is now serving as a soldier in Nachal Chareidi , we do not only have to daven for his safety from our enemies, but now have to be concerned about his safety from our own fellow Jews…. how incredibly sad….

  3. #3- You should most certainly be proud of your son, but unfortunately, as you stated, you need to daven for him to be protected against these thugs. HKB”H yishmor es chayaleinu MIKOL tzara v’tzuka….

  4. Did the Rosh Yeshiva, put out a letter denouncing the heinous acts his students did? Where are askanim and gedolim? why have they not denounced these acts?
