  6. If Not for Reb Berel Sassoon’s grandfather at great personal sacrifice to himself in bringing the Rebetzin to the American shores, there would not be the current Beth Medrash Govoha Yeshiva.

  7. Hagaon Rav Yisroel Neuman and Hagaon Rav Yeruchem Olshin שליט”א are sons-in-law of her sister-in-law, in other words nephews by marriage.
The rebetzen is from a very prestigious family, her father Rav Aryeh Malkiel Friedman was a businessman and baal mussar, a nephew or great-nephew of the Alter of Kelem. It is said that Rav Nochum Velvel of Kelm said of him: “The entire creation of the kelemer Talmud Torah was worthwhile to produce one person of such shleimus as Rav Aryeh Malkiel.” He was a close friend of Rav Elchonon Wasserman, who made the rebetzen’s shidduch to the Rosh Yeshiva.
