Police Uncertain of Motive for Yavne Supermarket Attack [UPDATED 1:31PM IL]


Police are investigating a stabbing incident in a Shufersal supermarket in Yavne. The attacker is in custody.

United Hatzalah volunteer EMS personnel responded to a stabbing that took place just before 12 noon on Wednesday afternoon, 10 Av on Sanhedrin Street in Yavne. A number of people were also treated for shock following the incident.

Netanel Moyal a volunteer EMT with United Hatzalah said “While I was at work near the location of the incident the United Hatzalah dispatch and command center alerted me to the incident which took place at the Shufersal supermarket. I rushed over to the scene and treated the individual suffering from stab wounds to his upper body”.

Magen David Adom reports the victim is a male in his 40s, transported to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot in a MDA paramedic ambulance with stab wounds to his upper body. He was conscious and alert at the time of transport.

Police first reported the attack to be criminal but are now stating they are uncertain, indicating it might have been a terror attack.

1:31PM IL: Officials at Kaplan Hospital report the stabbing victim is in critical/life threatening condition with wounds to his head, neck and chest. He has received multiple units of blood and was treated in the trauma unit and then taken to emergency surgery. The hospital also treated three victims of hysteria as a result of the attack.

  1. “uncertain of motive”?Come-on, he’s just earning a nice salary for his family ,courtesy of the PA, for trying to kill Jews.

  2. This is false reporting. The police from the very beginning called it a terrorist incident. And it is still a terrorist incident. And the poor man, the victim, B”H, is still alive but could use your tefillot and not a bunch of nonsense reporting. We live in a war zone over here, there is no need to scratch your heads or consult a book to figure out what happened here.
