The Gadol Hador added “our enemies, those who hate us rise up against us and we must recite Slichos on erev Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, Thursday, 28 Sivan 5773.

Needless to say the Gadol Hador’s words are being carried by the daily mainstream secular media, not in a positive light.

While Thursday is the day we observe ??? ???? ??? for ???? ????, it is not ??? ??? ???? as ??? ???? falls out on ??? ???? and ??? ?????. It’s just that we don’t observe ??? ???? ??? on ??? ??? that it gets pushed back a day.
Secular Media always has a hay-day with Chacham Ovadia.
The hilonim and religious zionists were shocked that R. Yosef is opposing conscription of yeshiva students since most Shas supporters (including most of its members of the kenesset) serve in the army. His opposition is critical since Shas has the most to lose, since their yeshivos don’t have the strong financial ties to overseas, and his supporters are the most racist towards the Palestinians. On the other hand, ending conscription, which is the most likely compromise, will benefit Shas the most since most of its supporters do serve in the army and would benefit from professionalizing the military.
