MK Kalfa Wants Compensation for Bus & Train Riders

egednnMK (Bayit Yehudi) Zevulun Kalfa has turned to Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz with a request to compensate riders for the down time of the public transportation system in Yerushalayim, Tzfas and other cities that were shut down during the snow storm.

Kalfa explained that many riders of the bus and light rail system do not have the income to permit using taxis but during the storm days that is exactly what many had to do since they could not afford to lose time at work. This he explains resulted in many people spending 100 NIS daily for cabs and the MK feels the government must compensate them.

Kalfa added that unfortunately, many taxi drivers realized the situation and they did not hesitate to rip off riders by charging outrageous rates during the storm. Kalfa suggests paying back those residents who can produce a receipt for a taxi ride during the storm days. In addition they should receive a month’s pass for public transportation.
