Bayit Yehudi Party: The Magic is Gone

bennBayit Yehudi party officials in Yerushalayim feel the party’s magic is gone, telling officials on the national level that the popularity enjoyed by the party in the capital has simply vanished. MKs Nissim Slomiansky and Ayelet Shaked took part in an election event in the capital along with the party’s director-general, Nir Orbach and local party officials.

Party officials on both the local and national levels are concerned as clearly, the party cannot climb above 12 seats where it has been stuck in the polls of recent weeks. Earlier in the campaign Bayit Yehudi had 18 and 16 seats but fell after party leader Naftali Bennett’s blundered appointment of Eli Ochana.

  1. Gee-maybe selling out the yeshivas and talmidei yeshiva to the likes of Lapid and the army wasn’t the right thing to do?

  2. כי אם החרש תחרשי בעת הזאת רבח והצלה יעמוד ליהודים ממקום אחר ואת ובית אביך תאבידו

  3. Since the earlier polls, which averaged 16, the other things that happened were the establishment of Yachad and Bibi’s confrontation with Obama. Both of these have attracted potential Bayit Yehudi voters. Despite all these matters, Jewish Home is holding at least its current strength in the Knesset–12 votes. As for Bennett’s previous alliance with Lapid, it ONLY happened after the Haredi parties turned down his offer of an alliance, and then Bibi tried to keep Bayit Yehudi out of the government. It was a last resort alliance that forced Likud to include Jewish Home in the coalition. Perhaps next time, all of these parties will be smarter about choosing their allies! Baruch HaShem.

  4. 1. Allying with Lapid made them look stupid. Most religious zionists strongly favor keeping the West Bank, and only are mildly annoyed at the hareidim — Bayit Yehudi was willing to sacrifice the settlements to pursue a war on the hareidim.

    2. They have competition from Yachad (for the more “frum” elements among the religious zionist voters. They always had competition from the non-religious parties as well (noting that there are a good many Shomrei Mitsvos serving as part of the non-religious parties).

  5. the numbers speak for themselves. bennt is probably mostly going towards YACHAD (Eli Yishai) bennt is losing four seats and the polls give Yishai 4 seats. to\heyre supporting chetboun, the one whom bennt dumped for voting his conscience. apparently they see that bennt has no conscience and listens to nobody.
