McDonald’s Pig Has Many Religious Israelis Angered

3A surprise gift for children at McDonalds in Israel has many religious patrons angered, with some calling it “insensitive and stupid”. Patrons are given gifts based on purchases and one of the dolls is a pig, which is being given out in kosher branches as well as the non-kosher.

The dolls are taken from the 2016 animation blockbuster “Sing”. McDonalds selected 10 of the characters for this new gift campaign. Kosher branches taking part it he promotional gift campaign include Cinema City, Ben-Yehuda and Beit HaKerem, all in Jerusalem.

Family members of religious children who received the pigs were less than pleased, questioning the wisdom of McDonalds for distributing them to kosher patrons, explaining surely they could have run the same campaign without the inclusion of a pig.

  1. Oh for the love of…

Seriously? THIS is what bothers them? A stupid dancing pig? Since when are plastic pigs Jews kryptonite? Yes, we can’t eat them. Yes, we can’t raise them. Yes the Gemara calls them “davar acher” in several places.

    But a PLASTIC pig?

    Really?
    Really?

  2. The inclusion of a toy pig is less disturbing than the fact that McDonald refuses to allow any of its restaurant in Yehuda and Shomron.

  3. To No. 3

McD’s position is that of a global food service provider with operations in 20+ countries that don’t even recognize EY, much less its legal rights to settlements in the West Bank areas. Many of those countries would not allow McD to operate if they opened restaurants in the West Bank. They are operating on the margin of international legality and politics. No one calls for a boycott of many internet companies because they restrict their operations and product offerings in China. Even some EU countries are hypocritically restricting imports for certain products from the West Bank

  4. I think it is good they give out pigs! why? because they are mostly trief in Israel and even the stores in Jerusalem are low level kosher and sell milk and meat under the same roof albeit with a partition between the two

Stay away from MacDonells in Israel and for certain out side of Israel they are totally treif!
