Electrocuted Man Dies of His Injury in Jerusalem

A Jerusalem man was electrocuted to death on Shmuel Refaeli Street in Jerusalem on Thursday evening just after 6:00 p.m. The man was in his early thirties and was at his home when another man walked into the apartment and found him unconscious and called emergency services for Help. EMS first responders from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom responded to the call and attempted to perform CPR  on the patient but to no avail. After a lengthy resuscitative effort, the man’s death was declared at the scene of the incident itself.

Volunteer EMT with United Hatzalah Yossi Yashar who arrived first at the scene said: “Together with United Hatzalah’s Intensive Care Ambulance Staff which includes a doctor, I performed CPR on the patient who was in his early thirties who had suffered electrocution. Unfortunately we were forced t pronounce his death at the scene.”

Yishai Levy an EMT with MDA reported: “When I got to the house I went to make sure that the electricity had been shut off so that our scene would be safe to perform CPR in. I performed CPR together with the intensive care team but unfortunately, we were forced to pronounce the man’s death. The house had some open sockets without their covers on. It seems that the man had attempted to fix some electrical problems in an unsafe manner.”
