Israel’s Interior Minister Moshe Arbel on Monday permanently revoked the entry visa of Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss — the twisted American spokesman for the fringe Neturei Karta movement — after Weiss was photographed meeting Iran’s foreign minister in Brazil and praising Tehran.
Arbel, invoking rarely used emergency powers under the Law of Return, barred Weiss from ever setting foot in Israel, declaring he “will not allow anyone who acts against the State of Israel and identifies with its enemies to enter it.”
Weiss, 69, traveled this week to São Paulo to participate in events around the BRICS summit. According to Iranian state media, he held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, offered him flowers, and signed a memorial book for “martyrs of Zionist attacks on Iran.” Images posted online showed Weiss denouncing Israel to Araghchi’s face — a move Arbel called crossing “a red line.”
Weiss has long relished the role of provocateur, championing Iran and other sworn enemies of the Jewish state. In 2006, he was filmed in Tehran at a government-sponsored Holocaust denial conference, and over the years has repeatedly praised Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iranian leadership while demonizing Israel.
A resident of Monsey, New York, Weiss is the most visible face of Neturei Karta. His activities have left him ostracized by virtually every mainstream Orthodox Jewish body in the world.
Israeli officials said Monday that Tehran was exploiting high-profile meetings with Jewish dissidents like Weiss to push propaganda delegitimizing Israel’s right to defend itself.
“The message is clear,” Arbel said. “There will be zero tolerance for Jewish collaborators who embrace those who seek Israel’s destruction.”

Reb Weiss is harmless to Israel. The real enemies are the secular lefty groups like Jstreet and Truah. They lobby against aid to Israel. The only reason the Israeli government gets bent out of shape in condemning Neturei karta is because they are orthodox. The secular Israeli government knows that chassidic and yeshivash Jews worldwide despise secular Zionism. No shul displays an Israeli flag or sings hatikvah. They fear the fast growing Chareidi communities in America. Besides Rabbi Weiss has no plans to go to Israel anyway.

In my opinion the Neturei Karta have degenerated into something I do not recognize. Even Rabbi Blau (the founder of NK) who went out of his way not even to use a hospital or bus from the Jewish State cared about every Jew. He would never hit or hurt another Jew. Same with Satmar, because whether you agree with their positions
on issues of Israel or not, their chesed is “off the charts”
Anti-zionism should not be a contradiction to ahavat yisroel. The notion that the Neturei karta would take the side of Hamas or Iran that are true “soneh yisroel” or haters of Jews should be the farthest thing from what they should be doing. How do you support turning over the Jews to those who hate us (which would happen if Jews gave Israel over to others), as anything that is close to Torah even if you believe Zionism is wrong? I have no problem with Jews having a discussion and debate about Zionism and how you view it under halacha, but why behave in a way that hurts other Jews?
I would remind people about “al tifrosh min ha’tzibor” where there is no doubt that you can lose your portion in the world to come. I would encourage people to learn that Rambam who defines this as a Jew who is indifferent about another Jew’s suffering. The Neturei Karta have let this issue penetrate them to such a degree that they seem to be indifferent about how what they are doing hurts other Jews. And that is what upsets me about them.

MOMENT OF TRUTH! The Neturai Karta are very misrepresented people. The only reason that they are friendly with arabs/iran is bc they believe that eventually iran will beat israel and they hold its the only way to ensure safety for frum yidden in such a matzav. Another point about the Rishus of the NK is that they should not be attending the BRICS summit to begin with. While of course they are primarily there to be malshin on and agitate against Israel, end of the day BRICS has an adversarial relationship with the US. Those of us who live in the US don’t need Jews who are US citizens with long beards and peyos showing their evil faces at a conference that US policy makers feel as being adversarial and competition to them.
