Many people were shocked that a staggering 1/3 of NYC Jews voted for Zohran Mamdani. This clearly demonstrates how many of our fellow Jews, are estranged from Yiddishkeit.
Rav Elya Brudny, Shlita was once asked at the Agudah Convention, “What’s the greatest crisis confronting Klal Yisroel?”
His answer was shocking and eye-opening to many. He said that without a doubt, the greatest crisis Klal Yisroel faces is the fact that most Jews are being lost forever to Yiddishkeit. 80% of Hashem’s children are disappearing! The Rosh Yeshiva gave a charge for everyone to attempt to make a difference.
Flatbush’s Kiruv organization, BJX, is responding to that urgent call. Dozens of unaffiliated Jewish college students enrolled in BJX to learn the beauty and joy of Yiddishkeit as well as the skills to develop lasting, healthy relationships.
These students are from Columbia, NYU, Fordham, Adelphi, Baruch and Brooklyn College. The feedback from the program is Baruch Hashem tremendous.
In this week’s Parsha, The Torah describes Yitzchok’s love for his errant son, Eisav. He loves him despite his rebellion because a child is a child. The Gemara in Shabbos (89b) describes how Yitzchok is the one and only patriarch who comes to the rescue of the Jewish people when all seems lost. Hashem will approach each of the Avos, saying that their children have sinned. Yitzchok is the only one who challenges Hashem’s premise and argues: “My children, and not Your children? At the time that they said ‘Na’aseh v’Nishma’, You called them, ‘My children, My eldest’ (Shemot 4:); and now, they are my sons, but not Yours?”
Yitzchok was uniquely situated to espouse this retort to Hashem because of the way he took care of his own son, Eisav.
At BJX we firmly believe that no matter their background, every Yid is Hashem’s beloved child. Let’s all daven that these new bright and ambitious students from the local colleges who joined our BJX programs will connect to Hashem and remain forever connected to Yiddishkeit!
This week we celebrated the birth and Bris Milah of yet another BJX baby. The baby’s parents met at BJX and centered their relationship on growing as Torah Jews. Step by step they took on more and more commitment. Now, they are continuing Yiddishkeit, implanting the love for Hashem into another generation.

If the election says anything profound, it was definitely the way our leaders negotiated and navigated their decision. Gedoli Yisroal did not want to support both candidates for understandable reasons and decided to split the votes, where Williamsburg will be notified to vote for Mamdany, and Boro Park, who are strong State of Israel suporters will vote for Como. The results of Williamsburg gave a profound 26,534 votes for Mamdany, 1000 times the gematria of the name of Hashem. He also got 7000 votes in Boro Park
