BREAKING: Israel and Lebanon agreed to renew their ceasefire following a fourth round of U.S.-mediated talks in Washington.
• The sides agreed to establish “pilot” security zones in southern Lebanon from which Hezbollah would be barred.
• The agreement says the ceasefire depends on a complete halt to Hezbollah attacks and the removal of all Hezbollah terrorists from areas south of the Litani River, with the Lebanese Army taking control.
• The joint statement said the move is intended to advance a broader peace and security agreement, while rejecting attempts by any state or non-state actor to influence Lebanon’s future.
