Reps. Lawler, Goldman Lead Bipartisan Effort to Combat Antisemitism and Increase Security Funding With Comprehensive House Bill

Reps. Mike Lawler and Dan Goldman are leading a bipartisan group of lawmakers in introducing the House version of the Jewish American Security Act, a wide-ranging legislative package aimed at addressing rising antisemitism across the United States.

The legislation mirrors a bipartisan bill introduced in the Senate last month and seeks to strengthen protections for Jewish communities through increased security funding, enhanced oversight of antisemitism on college campuses, new federal threat assessments, and greater transparency from social media companies regarding antisemitic content.

The bill would provide additional resources for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, bolster protections for Jewish students through stronger enforcement of federal civil rights laws, and improve efforts to identify and combat antisemitic activity both online and offline.

The legislation is backed by 30 bipartisan House members and has received support from a broad coalition of Jewish organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, Jewish Federations of North America, the American Jewish Committee, the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

Supporters of the legislation say it represents one of the most comprehensive federal efforts to address antisemitism in recent years, combining security funding, campus protections, online accountability measures, and federal enforcement initiatives into a single package.

The measure comes amid continued concerns over rising antisemitic incidents nationwide following the October 7 attacks and is expected to receive consideration in both chambers of Congress in the coming months.
