The 12 pre-state heroes hanged at the gallows, referred to as the Olei HaGardom, were remembered in a ceremony held on Wednesday night in Akko, where the death sentences were carried out. The event was sponsored by the Begin Heritage Center and the Akko Municipality.

Among the notables taking part in the event was Vice Premier Moshe Ya’alon, Akko Mayor Shimon Lankry and Geula Cohen, a former MK who was a member of the Lechi Jewish underground. (She is also the mother of Kadima MK Tzachi Hanegbi).
