IDF Lt. Adam Malul, who was found guilty of beating an Arab, will not be sent to prison or demoted, calling the most difficult ordeal a “small victory”. The junior officer succeeded in persuading the court that his actions were not motivated by anything other than viewing them as a means towards achieving the goals of the particular mission.

The left-wing, including the Yesh Din organization is up in arms, calling on the IDF judge advocate general to appeal the decision. Yesh Din officials warn that the attitude of the court will only serve to encourage others to act similarly.

The Kfir officer will not be compelled to serve a prison term since the court felt ‘time served’ was sufficient in this case.
