5 IDF Soldiers Injured in Gaza Border Incident


ywnisrael.israelA bomb was detonated against soldiers from the Yahalom unit of the Engineering Corps as they were preparing to detonate a smuggling tunnel discovered in the area of Kissufim, along the Gaza border. Five soldiers were injured in the explosion that occurred Thursday night, one seriously.

Soldiers from the Samur Company, which specializes in detonating tunnels, were working with combat engineers and infantry forces as they were getting set to destroy the tunnel that was discovered a number of weeks earlier.

The seriously injured soldier sustained a head injury. He was evacuated by military helicopter to the trauma unit of Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva. He was operated on during the night. One soldier sustained moderate injuries and the remainder light. Some of them were operated on during the night as well.

After the blast the IDF force realized the terrorists were not far away and they opened fire at them. An exchange of gunfire followed. Helicopter gunships were ordered into the area and at least one Hamas terrorist was eliminated.

The IAF during the night struck out at terrorist targets in southern Gaza. Terrorists retaliated with mortar rocket fire into the Eshkol Regional Council B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities or injuries.

The PA (Palestinian Authority) on Friday morning, 28 Cheshvan 5774, reported three fatalities as a result of the IAF bombing attack in Gaza.

  1. If you are going to report, report correctly. The terrorists attacked our chayalim and we killed 4 terrorist.
    This was a very serious attack…we have 5 chayalim in the hospital 1 very serious. Why are you naming the units they came from. Can’t you just say the IDF….

    Naming the units puts all our chayalim in danger…Hamas read everything….
