Syria: IAF Warplanes Violated Syrian Airspace, We Fired At Them

iaf.jpgThe Syrian army said Thursday that its air defenses fired on IAF warplanes that entered Syria airspace and “dropped ammunition.” The IDF told Haaretz that they had no immediate comment, saying that they would look into the report. The BBC reported that Syrian air defences fired at the incoming planes, which crossed into Syria after midnight local time.

The Syrian Army spokesman, quoted by the official Syrian Arab News Agency, did not say how the Syrian military fired on the aircraft or where the incident happened, other than saying it occurred at midnight Wednesday night.

“Air defense units confronted them and forced them to leave after they dropped some ammunition in deserted areas without causing any human or material damage.”

Al-Arabiya television reported that the air strike occurred in north-eastern Syria.

  1. I don’t think that was an unintentional violation. I think the Israelis were either conducting reconnaisance missions or trying to attack terrorists.
