    my main point on this…

although i agree that no one should go out with someone theyre not attracted to (i agree attraction is very important!!)…. people dont understand how hurtful this can be to someone. dont say no just bec of a picture!!! i happen to look MUCH bigger in photos. i just dont come out well!! but bec some boys (not all.. there are some really normal ones out there im sure…..) cant get passed the desire for perfection they wont even give me a chance (even though my parents are more than willing/able to support btw…..) its just plain hurtful!!!!! some people are not willing to look passed it and if i may be so bold… theyre missing out. ive come to learn that. (and before everyone comes jumping on me for saying that…. ive spoken to many people about this topic and ive been told that a lot…… everyone has their plus sides and minus sides we need to focus on our plus’ TOGETHER with ou minus’!! its something im trying to work on being that i have a very low self esteem)

GOOD QUESTION!!! im trying to figure that out myself! its VERY VERY hard!!! trust me im in theEXACT boat as you!! i wish there was some comforting words to tell you but i dont have any to say to myself execpt Hashem made someone who is gonna make us soooo happy no matter what we look like, and we WILL find him!!! and if you need to vent- i KNOW WHAT YOU ARE FEELING!!!!! =)

my mother always says; “all the boys want ‘barbie dolls’ but dont they know they’re not all ‘ken’….”

omg your post takes the words RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am in the EXACT same situation! i was told by someone that 3 boys said no to me because they are “concerned abt my weight” i CANNOT TELL YOU (im sure you know…..) how much that hurt me. i am a great girl (if i do say so myself….) i will be a great mother and wife, my family is FANTASTIC but bec i am not a size 2, 4, 6 or even an 8 or 10 i am not wanted. tis world is MESSED up! i cried myself to sleep for DAYS until i decided that i dont care. the right boy will love me for ME not for what i look like. i am healthy, i am happy and the main thing is…. i am a nice caring person. if a boy (or his mother) cant get passed how much i weigh then im sorry he is NOT for me!

thats not to say it doesnt hurt… IT DOES!!!!!!!!! i wish wish wish people would put theor priorities in order!!!

sweet- by a simcha i use an extended bolus. i say give it to me ove the next ____ hours and then i check my pdm with my coat or leave it in the bathroom in a bag.works like a charm. the omnipod is waterproof for 30 minutes i think. i LOVE to swim too! lol!

i think i agree with sweet though abt the cgm and medtronic… HUGE plus. i know i love my cgm but its a pain in the neck to have to carry around (and wear) two things…. if i wasnt already “hooked” (still love that joke btw,….) on the wirelessness of the omnipod i would maybe consider switching but i cant go back on wires after being off of it so long!

i have been doing the waiting for a while but now i started 20 min and the extra 5 min makes a huge diff…… as far as weddings… i dont usually eat at weddings (or really anywhere in public… just my own “mishagas”) so i dont have that prob….

interesting about the headaches coming from the fake sweetners. i dont really have that prob but i could see why you would think that. ive heard that the sweetners can cause side effects…

tralala- thats so funny that you mentioned that book bec i just baught Mountain climbers today after posting abt it and i cant put it down! i really think we could write a story for it. im really considering it…. of course you should write for ami!!! i would LOVE to read it!!!

princess- i read somewhere a while ago abt this diabetic girl who stopped taking insulin to lose weight and now she has serious issues. they conisder it an eating disorder. its not worth it! and trust me i know how you feel! i HATE my body and the way i look! i HATE HATE that no matter how little i eat the inches and pound dont come off! i HATE HATE HATE all the comments that are made sometimes by people who dont understand (and even by some people who you are close to and mean well but dont knwo how tough it is….) ive been there. its painful i know! but “starving yourself from insulin” wont help it will just make us sick and please dont do that bec we need you here on this thread! dont give up hope! i am crying just writing this bec i really know how you are feeling and it hurts me that there are no answers to give!! weight is a very very very sore subject for me! i have always struggled but lately its gotten worsebec of the fact that i found out a few things that someone said (having to do with shidduchim….) i cant tell you how manty nights i have cried myself to sleep and the pain it has caused. i was ready to give up and not eat but then i remembered the DAIBETES WONT LET ME NOT EAT!!! ITS NOT FAIR!!!! there are no answers princess we just have to rely on eachother for support i guess! so i am here… i understamd!! VENT AWAY!!!!!

princess- yes it is harder for Diabeteics to lose weight! besides for the lows that come with eating less, insulin gives us a run for our money!! thats not to say its impossible bec its not! just takes a LOT of determination and patience!!!! (not something i have…..) sometimes i feel like i will stop giving insulin, lose weight (one of the symptoms of high b.s) and then after i lose the weight i will get back in control but i know thats not safe at all so i will just stay fat and ugly oh well

alls- no i dont miss anything from the other pumps. the omnipod has all the feattures my old pump did. i am happy with it but i dont know what the new pumps have so i cant tell you what this is missing! sorry!

tralala- thats what were here for! im sorry ur struggling! but you sound like you have so much determination in u from all that you went through AND OVERCAME!!!! you know how they say life is like a mountain? i like to think of it as more of a lot of hills when it comes to D. bolus hills and pump hills and shidduchim hills and carb counting hills and weight hills….. you get over one hill and there are still so many more! i sometimes feel like “sitting down” and stop climbing (we all feel that way sometimes no?) but we all have to remember that once we get over one hill, its worth it!!!! life is a climb but you get a great view from the top of all your hills!!!!

im thinking now that maybe youre better off going with the medtronic. the intergrated cgms is prob a HUGE plus! the only thing is the wires and hiding it…. what does your family think?? iim sorry your having a hard time deciding! wtvr choice you make should be the right one and it should help you manage the D!

reb- stress is a HUGE factor in bs levels (for me at least….) when i have a stressful day at work i always have a harder time with the levels!! i MUST work on staying calm!!! (not only diabetes…) but its so hard!

for me heat also affects my bs levels for some reason! i have to adjust my basals in the summer sometimes! its weird!

dx3- perfection is not achieved in one day, ITS THE DIRECTION THAT YOU ARE GOING”

    LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!! thanks a mill!!!

were you high before taking your nap or did it go up while you slept? did you eat b4?? its hard sometimes the highs bring the lows MUCH later in the day when it’s totally not expected!

sweet- i do wait 15 min before eating and 2 hrs later it is perfect but i dont like how it goes up in between. when i wear my sensorit annoys me to see the up arrow even though it goes straight back down.

ie: 15 min b4 i wanna eat lunch i test. its 100. so i bolus then wait 15 min. then i eat. an hour late its 175 but then an hour later its 120. i dont like that 175 in middle!

TRUST me i do!!! its so hard bec i come from a family that is not the skinniest so i wldnt be a size to anyways but put in the diabetes (which people think is from being overweight….. HATE THAT!!!!) and it makes it so hard to be thin! im not obese but i still wanna look good!! i ALWAYS eat well bec of the D so how much less should i eat to lose weight?!? i cant do insnae exercise bec of lows…. and the insulin makes me MAD!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhh that feels better now that i complained abt it (again….) lol 😉 im gonna think like allsgr8 and be positive!!

sweet- my sugars always go down after i east i just dont like it going up it annoys me!

i wear it on my abdomen and lower back mostly. i sometimes wear it on my leg but i bothers me there, plus i love wearing straight skirts so it shows thru on my leg. it did feel heavy in the beginning but now i dont feel it at all!

dont get me wrong there are some negatives too… be sure to mention to the representative that you heard it tends to have a lot of occlusions sometimes (but then you can go 6 months w.o one….)

btw do u know the rep’s name? i had someone come down to me named Raya. dont ask me why i rememeber that but it wld be cute if she came to u too lol

allsgr8- its a funny story why i changed.. my great aunt sent me an article done on a fameous (non-jewish) diabetic singer and how they had the omnipod and loved it etc… so i looked into it and i found it had a lot of great things especially the wireless bec i really really HATED the wires!!! i dont know why ezery1 thinks its hard to hide cuz really no1 sees!!! i was by a wedding and i was dancing next to my best friend and she said “my hand keeps hitting something hard on u what is it?” so i said “my pump” she said “oh right i TOTALLY forgot you have it on!” (then she was all nervous if she hurt me but thats a diff story….;)

so even when wearing a dress my best friend who has known for the whole 9 years cldnt tell i had it on…

the thing i really didnt like abt my other pumps was hiding it… i used to keep it on my skirt like a cell phone (i got sooo many comments on it…. by my sister’s vort 7 years ago someone came over to me and said “couldnt u take off your phone for ur sis’s vort?” i was so insulted mind u i was 13…..)

but now theyre are a lot of products u cld buy like the “thigh thing” or slips with pockets…. i dont remember where u get them but i cld find out

allsgr8- I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU THAT UR GETTING A PUMP WHICHEVER 1 U CHOOSE I THINK ULLL LOVE IT!!!

you know what i feel abt the omnipod so i wont repeat it but what i think you shld do is this: after each meeting with the representative wite down what you like and what u dont like on either sides of a paper. then after all 3 sit down and comapre papers. this way its a bit more clear and not all jumbled around ur head. hope the decision is easy!

hey princess- you only wanna meet allsgr8?!?!? i think im a bit insulted… jk! i know what you mean about it being so difficult sometimes! its a chronic disease so its bound to get hard and for us to say “i give up!!” we all go through that1 (i know i give all the time!!!)sometimes i just wish it would GO AWAY!!! i am dsick of the needeles and sometimes i just wanna eat something without the worry of how much to bolus etc and i HATE HATE how hard it is to lose weight! but theni rememeber that Hashem never ever gives anyone something they cant handle so He must think i can do it and there must be a reason why He chose me of all people to give this to. it doesnt make it any easier but i try to do what Hashem would want! thats all we could do i guess… TRY!! sorry theres nothing real to say to make you feel better! but just know YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! more than anyone WE KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!!! we’ll all manage this TOGETHER!!

as far as that shabbatons… im not the outgoing social type so it is hard for me to go somewhere when i dont know anyone….

allsgr8- i was thinking the same thing! iyh one of us should get to that step and then we’ll beg the mods to help us out to make it work!

dx3- i did but i was gonna save it for Rebbitzen to say it cuz i know howmuch she loves it!

sweettooth- so would you think that doing a little bit of a bigger bolus help more than waiting extra time? i am always scared of dropping cuz then i end up overtreating the low causing it to go higher….

in reply to: Diabetes Support Group #980399

sweettooth- i just started bolusing 15 minutes before but i think thats not enough time because it still goes up (not so high but i wanna try for not havong it go up at all or very little…)think it will help if i wait another 5 minutes? my doc suggested waiting between bolus and eating 2 times ago when i was by her which was in november so i tried it and it brought my a1c down from 7.3 to 6.6 (combined with other adjustments…) so im a big fan of it though its not always easy to remember to do that!!!

i use Dr. wallach in mount sinai in manhhattan and i like her. prob is that shes a pediatric doc so idk if she would start someone new if theyre not techinically a child… i should really start looking for a regular one… 🙁

i cant get over how many of us there are now! im so EXCITED we all gain from eachother (i know i love to read what y’all have to say!!!!) yay!

pricess- do you have any ideas why you feel like you cant control? what part specifically is hardest for you?

sweettooth- what would you say is the one thing you think that helped you to acheive the amazing a1c? if you had to sum it up to one thing… and which endo do you use?

dx3- what is multiclix? i googled it but it seems like a regular lancet to me besides the multiple lanncets in one “thingy” (for lack of better word….)

i set mine on 3 sometimes 4 because it doesnt seem to draw enough blood if its any lower and i hate having to push it out!

great idea about the soda 😉 only prob is if the boy thinks ots normal for girls to drink diet soda….

princess- why dont you try to focus on ONE point in the day getting ur numbers perfect. lets say breakfast till lunch (4-5 hours). take that one time frame and give it ur best full attention… meaning bolusing perfectly, testing regularly in that frame correcting etc. then after youve mastered that mmove on to the next time. but dont rush yourself to the next step if your not up to it! that way it doesnt seem like its overwhelming or too much etc.
