(if im being too rude or pushy please disregard the question! i do not wanna make you feel uncomfortable in any way!)

reb- i used to be the same way with my sites but now the omnipod forces me to change it every 2-3 days bec it uns out of insulin but i ttly understand how you feel! i feel that when i put in the sensor thats why i dont always put it in. i try to put some ice on it for a while and it COMPLETELY numbs it and i dont feel when it goes in! why dont you try it?

who says i dont treat low blood sugars?!?! i do! i know its sooooo dangerous!!! i lowered my A1c the “old fashion way” diet exercise and monitoring. while you might not think 6.6 is good i am proud of it and i will continue to work hard. and btw please dont say keeping an avg bg of 90 is very attainable cuz its really not! like i said you dont know (and hopefully never should…) a lot goes into it and its not something that will go away so i am doing the best i can! i am healthy and strong and i thank Hashem every day for helping me get to the 6.6 and thats all i am gonna say abt the matter! have a great night!

“You are still young (and the others who post here) -so you live in the here and now,”

i happen not to live in the here and now i am a HUGE worryer so i know all the bad things that could happen which is why i am so controlled. but i hear what you are saying so i guess thanks for trying to help.

as far as you saying most people dont feel it till its in the fiftys, thats not true (for me at least…) i can tell the second it drops down to lower than 75 and it gets worse the lower it is (if i wake up at night feeling shaky, i can always tell how low it is jst by feeling and 90% of the time i am right… i think thats so cool lol) every person is different but i think most diabetics will agree with me when i say we always know when were low before the under 50 mark. 50 is DANGEROUSLY low!!! as someone in the medical feild you prob know that

allsgr8- if your not happy with ur doc u shld consider mine she’s soooo good!!!!

reb- i HATE when that happens!! any ideas why? sometimes the liver releases some glucose because it senses it needs it.(or something like that.. my doc mentioned that once but i dont really understand it…..) or could it be a pump malfunction?

i hope it went down and you feel better soon!!

health- i could see y ur not a shrink…. and yes i agree with allsgr- having an A1C of under 6 means the AVERAGE blood sugar is around 95 which means that there would be a lot of lows. and like Allsgr8 asked- what kind of medicine do you practice that you know so much about diabetes?

the target i am quoting is straight from my endo who i have been using for 5+ years who is a TOP doctor and says that my A1C of 6.6 is perfect so forgive me if i skip all the reading and just listen to my doc.

im not saying ur wrong u ARE right, the lower the A1C the better but when we are struggling with diabetes to get o the 6.6 or 6.7 in fedups case, let us relish in our success instead of saying it should be ideally <6. This will be very difficult to attain.” Keep trying!

    just what i am feeling

allsgr8- im sooooo excited for you!!!! and im also excited that some1 else is “hooked” on the omnipod… (am i the only one who thought the way you said it was HYSTERICAL… were hooked onto a pump get it?!? lol) a pump will totally change ur D for the better!!! i cant wait to hear what you think about it! i think that a minimed “person” wouldnt hurt cuz you never know what features they have/dont have/ will be coming out with etc. (as long as its a free consultation that is….) wtvr you chose i hope ur decision is easy and u get what you need!!

health- it should be under 6 for NON DIABETICS…… for diabetics it should be under 7. of course the lower the better but in the 6s is what is good for diabetics

    can i point out something?

parents; when planning out your purim schedule… dont forget abt the assistant teachers!! i know its a hard day to get to everyone but dont forget, when the teacher is teaching, the assistant is busy with the “little” things…. making copies, getting bandaids, checking homework, reviewing with the kids who need special attention etc….. just because they are not the main teacher doesnt mean they dont devote just as much or that they dont love your kids the same way the teacher does because they do! but of course if there is only time for one there is no question the regular teacher goes first!but if you have time and it fits into your plan dont think theyre not important! i know i couldnt manage without my WONDERFUL assistant!!!! they do more than you think!

just wanted to put that idea out there! thanks for listening!

thank you for your chizuk! you always know what to say allsgr8!!!

but im not talking just for shidduchim. (though its a huge part!!) people are so insensitive! it always bothers me how they think that the diabetes comes from being not exactly the perfect size/weight. im not saying im a normal weight but im not massive! i wish they would learn the difference between the 2 types so that i dont have to keep explaing it. when i was diiagnosed 9 years ago i was under 100 pounds and way too skinny! now its just my genes that causes me to be the way i am! i eat very healthy i exercise but im never gonna be a size 2 or even close to that! im fine with that id rather be healthy. but im sick and tired of people thinking that im not because they are ignorant to what diabetes really is! (and just btw i am not massively overweight its insane how people think!)

allsgr8- thats what i eat now… except therea coffee for breakfast and ww pita with lunch of salad and tuna. and i also have a fruit in between. i am so frustrated with the world right now. if im not a size 2 i am considered fat. ot doesnt matter if i am healthy and a good person im fat so i obviously i dont care about myself….. so now i have to go on a big diet even when i eat healthy as is….

dx3- i also asked a shayla and was also told that its totally fone to use it on shabbos but i dont feel comfortable. of course if i have to i wont think twice about using it! there is no question!! but if i can use a syringe i might as well not touch the buttons… thats just the way i feel i am prob being silly because i could use the PDM….

as far as the cgms…. i personally would thinkit’s worth it to have both even if i have to change it every 3 days… thats what i am doing with the omnipod now…. when i wear the sensor my skin btreaks out from wearing the adhesive fore longer than 3 days anyways so i a lot of times take it off soon after that anyway…. i guess time will tell…..

allsgr8- i am the same way which is why i only wear it for one week every 6 weeks or so because i HATE seeing it go up even though its supposed to… but i like seeing how the basal rates are. its a great thing to have i didnt think id like it but for once in a while i really think it helps me understand D better… you can try one from ur doc prob……

forever1- i dont really go out on shabbos but when i do its just for a short time so i leave it home and dont eat wherever i go or just correct when i come home (i dont use the PDM on shabbos as a general thing i use shots…..) and for weddings i give a time release/extended blous (another gr8 feature but i think a lot of pumps have that)i can say how long i want it to drag out for so that way by the time the meal comes its basically all given already. sometimes i have to drink something sugary before the meal comes bec i drop a bit with the insulin without food…. but that doesnt always happen. and then i leave the PDM in my coat or in the bathroom in the corner if its the summer…

its great bec the PDM doesnt need to be close to the pod all the time. only when programming a bolus! so i can leave it wherever i want…..

dx3- i am WAITING for the CGMS combo with omnipod!!! i wish i knew how long we have to wait!!!!!

reb- my ENTIRE family has thyroid issues so i asked my doc abt it and she said that diabetics are at a higher risk for thyroid problems. so dont worry its connected…. but i understand what you are feeling….. i’m waiting for my thyroid issues to start lol….. i feel so left out from my family being the only one with normal thyroid! 😉

I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered what do Chinese mothers use. Toothpicks?

Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a racecar is not called a racist?

Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren’t they just stale bread to begin with?

i wear the pod on my stomach most of the time, once in a while on my legs. i find it sticks better to the stomach and is more comft for me there too.

and yes it has a meter on the PDM! uses freestyle strips

the omnipod is not that big forever1- its thinner than most cell phone and about the legnth of an egg (not as wide as an egg but you get what im saying…lol) when wearing tights or stockiins, it pushes it in so that it is invisible (….if you are not looking for it of course) the other part of it… the PDM is the size of a blackberry and everyone asssumes thats what it is when i am “playing” with it!

i unfortunatly have massive scarring issues for some reason. i have to roatate the site from one place to the total opposite side otherwise its a mess lol

allsgr8- and occlusion is when the pump for some reason has an air bubble or the tube is bent so it blocks insulin delivery. my issues all had to do with that. its weird i could have like 3 occlusions in a row (SUCH a waste on insulin but i started taking some of it out…. thats a diff story;) and then not have another one for months! BH bli ayin hara i have not had an occlusion in prob 3 months!!! i learned where i can put it that doesnt have scar tissue under the skin cuz thats makes a lot of occlusion probs. and also a few difff tricks, like pushing the bottom of the pod down while it injects itself (another HUGE plus btw… all you have to do is push some buttons and it inserts the tube itself…) there are a lot of hints that you learn with ANY pump over time. remember that anything is gonna be different and therefore difficult to adjust to.

before the omnipod i was on the deltec cosmoniter. i was so thrilled with that. it was big and bulky and i didnt like the long wire it had. before that was the animas pump but that was at least 6 years ago! might have been one between there too…. i cant remember. i have been on the omnipod for 3 yrs now so even if i did rememebr the products well it wouldnt really be helpful if i list them because technology moves sooo fast that the pumps now are so different than the ones a few years back! sorry! but i know abt the omnipod lol!

allsgr8- yay! considering is a huge step! i’m all for the omnipod… its discreet and for you, having no one know and wanting it to be a secret i think thats a huge plus for you. its very easy to learn how to use it and has a lot of great features. i love that it has a built in food database with calories and carbs etc for a lot of food! it does have its issues, all pummps do! i think that it sometimes has a lot of occlusions if you dont do exactly what ur supposed to but the costumer service is FABULOUS!! they send ppl down to help you and their phone service is great too! i have pulled it out a couple of times buut that is the same with any pump infusion sets!

whatever you chose just make sure that YOU are happy with it and that you are confident in using it! gluck in ur decision!!
