i definatly think it was a kiddish hashem…..i heard she had a very positive attitude towards her experience……………just my opinion though, i feel like it sounded like all frum jews are exactly like their family. some things were very general, as if everyone doesnt know what tv or radio is…etc., and also they were a little to discriptive in things like niddah(just my opinion)…but overall i think it was a good idea.

idk about mesores rochel interviews specificly but i also have my interview soon for a different seminary and friends were telling me that sometimes they ask about things on your application or subjects you particularly enjoy, and usually ask you to read either a rashi or a ramban, maybe sometimes ask abt. your friend situation. I dont know exactly but those are the type of questions theyll probably ask. If anyone does have any suggestions of other questions that would be great. ( btw ppl. say u cant really “prepare” for an interview….my suggestion is to have some kind of idea of what you want to say but dont prepare word for word cuz thats like the worst thing you can do)…hatzlacha!

lemaysa- thats a little strong, it sounds like ur attacking p’ninim for a complete baseless reason! this might not have been your intention but you sounded very hypocritical and ridiculous.

yid2618- like others had said it really depends on more information than you gave, so only you can know if you dont say any other specifics but from what i know p’niim sounds like a good place for you. Over the past few years they have been getting really good girls and all the classes are surounded around hashkafa, and they have great trips, and really warm and caring teachers!

qsman-I apreciated seeing all your different opinions of what you know about the seminaries, thankyou, it helped alot, and leah22 thanks 🙂 @least right now im not considering england, even though it sounds like a great seminary, I am really interested in going to eretz yisroel. Brach18-i will look @ the link thanks 🙂 its the 1st time ive heard of it.Couldnt think of a username-yeah im in 11th grade.Ayshoshee-you sound like your having an amazing year, along with shua cohens daughter :p, i really am leaning towards peninim strongly, i was just nervous about the girls and what someone had mentioned earlier on abt. peninim having a bad reputation but, its sounds from what your saying and what shua cohen is saying that lately they really have decided to pick a more selective groups of great girls :)and sounds great for me thanks!!!!Shua cohen- thanks for looking @ all my comments, sometimes people just see some of them and dont take in all the considerations, like that im going early ect. “And why be in a place where you have to deny what you’re working on.”<i agree completly! But overall thankyou for all the responses and comments, there really helping me try and figure out what to do, because before this someone couldve thrown out the names bnos sara, meohr, mmy, seminar, and p’ninim and i would have had no clue what the difference is. 🙂

gavra-at-work – thanks for the suggestion it was a good thought, but A heimishe mom was right, i apreciate that she pointed it out that , i can manage academics but i do have trouble in hebrew so that doesnt sound like a great option for me.I am leaning towards peninim, especially since i have connections and am interested in hashkafa, but #1 i wish it was slightly more academic ( just slightly more)and #2 leah22 “but perhaps attract a more stable girl from more stable homes. Peninim does have refutation that girls have more free time.. and seminary leaves girls to get up to…?”is it really true that it has a bad reputation???….ik someone whos there this year and shes a great girl and she said they were trying to get better girls. Also does anyone know if ateres takes early admissions?, i know peninim does.I know ateres has alot of diff. types academicly but does anyone know frumkite wise what type it is, or if that has many various types as well? Also yeah i am really set on going to eretz yisroel right now. 🙂 thankyou again for all the responses, they are all apreciated!

Leah22 – i dont particularly have any close guy friends,no!I do listen to some non-jewish music, i really dont know how to clasify myself but i would like to grow in hashkafa, and other things.

Does anyone have any reasons why afikei or ateres would be good, are they sim. to peninim.

herewego- thankyou :), we were talking alot abt. having emunas hashem and how thats the most important thing and that you can grow from there once you feel a closeness to hashem and that u just have to think of how much hashkacha pratsi thereis.

kapusta- thasts actually a great idea idk why i didnt think of it, when i feel i can i may try to suggest it but the thing is her family is a little involved with oorah and she already decided not to go to girlz zone so i dont know if itll work out but ncsy is different and just for a shabbos and is for many diff. levels so that might be a really good option thankyou! 🙂

Thankyou for everyone that replied and or had any suggestions. i apreciate it so much!

KAPUSTA-thankyou! thats exactly what i told her and im sure its definatly halachicly correct because its obviously better than not keeping it at all.

YAACOV- thankyou for your advice! I did tell her that no matter what she will ofcourse! always be my friend and that she does not have to do anything she doesnt feel ready for, we are great friends. I have tried to show her how beautiful it is but shes not the type to be amazed abt. “wow it just feels so holy”she knows its very important so i think she is trying she just feels she cant do it.I really did want to know from a BTs point of view. How did you learn to apreciate shabbos and realize that you dont need to have your computer or phone ect. on shabbos,ik its really hard for her and i just dont completly understand because i was frum from birth so its hard to feel like ik exactly what she is feeling.I was actually trying to think of different things that she/we could do on shabbos together so that it wouldnt seem boring to her and it would feel the same as any other day if not more kodesh rather than feeling just boring.if anyone has any ideas i think that would be a great way for her to get into apreciating shabbos 🙂

SHOWERZINGER-thats very similair to this situation actually and im trying to convince her to just start from the beginning and take gradual “baby steps”

overall just having zerizos and trying to do as many mitzvos as possible that i may not usually think of during elul but im really trying overall to grow on my kibod av ad aim and mot saying loshon hora:) its sometimes easiest when u think of one middah that you feel you are lacking in or that you feel is very important…..i know alot of people that are trying to work on hacaras hatov to hashem and others which is a great middah to work on!

farock grandma – so according to rev heinamen this is correct what we do? im sorry to be so specific im just very unsure and i dont want to do an aveira but if possible i dont want to tell my parents they are wrong.so ur saying as long as our oven doesnt shut off and we only take food out once and its on 170 is that ok according to rev heinamen? if not does anyone have any further suggestions of how to deal with this, since i dont want to be disrespectful at all.

itchessrulik – i apreciate your answer as well as everyones just cuz im trying to figure out whats right and what to tell my parents, b,c if they are mistaken im sure they dont realize but is 170 degrees which is the lowest on our oven ok.also do you happen to have a source?

feif un – do you know what your source is from just curious but thats basically what we do that makes me feel better because im sure my parents do have somewhere they got it from and it snot just made up ofcourse i was just trying to make sure it wasnt just a misunderstanding on their part.

poppa bar abba-also isnt yad soledes bo 180?

itchesrulik- we put anything liquid in before shabbos and dont put it back in but dry stuff we put in shabbos day

thankyou for the answers and that may be a good idea poppa bar abba if its not halachicly correct. 🙂

im not sure we just turn it before shabbos to the absolute lowest setting on the oven so it is basically just a keep warm setting but im not sure if thats what your talking about…..

they use either a croc pot or the oven but keep it in their since the beginning of shabbos, i was just wondering if it was halachicly correct to put dry food in and out of the oven on shabbos

i completly agree with am yisroel chai, if you know the person has good middos and seems like their someone that you are interested in why not go for it try it! there are obviously negatives and positives abt. the situation but i strongly believe that as long as you feel it may be a good shidduch try, it may be an advantage that you know them from before rather than meeting up with a random stranger hoping there perfect for you and and that you’ll hopefuly fall in love with them.!!!!DEFINATLTY GIVE IT A TRY,

it was definately correct to just say good shabbos rather than ignore them or say more than that.also im not saying that the neighbors child wasnt doing anything but it is definatly possible that its a good friend of his whos doing the wrong thing but he just doesnt know himself what to say to stop the friend, other than trying to stick by them as a friend and try to be a good influence. so i think you did the right thing but from here on out its a very hard decision because you cant straight out make any decision since theres always the benefit of the dought (don licaf zechus) because either ur neighbors child could be occupying himself in completly wrong things or he could just be currently trying to be the best friend possible. only hashem really knows.

bpt.thats funny but what im really asking is im ofcourse not looking for exceptions and different ways i can dress with still being tznius, i do follow by my comunity and do dresss acording to my ravs posek but i was just wondering i have seen many different types of peoples dress lately that they definatly consider tznius and they are still frum, just very different from what i would wear(like a little below collar bone or within a little bit away from the elbow, or no socks) so im just wondering what are the simple straight out basic halachos that a person is still considered “tznius” 🙂

do you think its ok if a girl in 11th grade wears light make up on shabbos just to make her feel nicer and looking a little extra nice on shabbos, especially if there are others in the comunity who do it as well. i was just wondering opinions, in my opinion i would think as long as its not done to an extreme its ok because she will be dating in a few years, but not even really for that reason just to make her feel good.

(i think thats basically what i said so was saying?) 🙂
