Thanks! that was really helpful actually πŸ™‚ I really like that you specificaly mentioned that they aren’t looking for a “cookie cutter” but for strong individuals ect.

Is the class time ever too overwhelming? Do they make it seem like the main reason why your coming is to continue your learning education, or really to shape who you are and grow as a bas yisroel? Also honestly everything you said really sounds wonderful. I just had a question about the academics. How textual will it be, meaning is it a problem for someone who really has difficulty translating things past pesukim and basic rashis? also one last question, I don’t know if its true at all or not, but is it true that meohr is very “new yorky”?

Anything you are able to answer is extremely appreciated! πŸ™‚

I dont really know much about seminar, but I had heard lev bais yaakov being compared in a similair way to seminar and Ateres. Obviously not exactly at all, but to give you some idea, I did hear that. I’ve heard wonderful things about Lev Bais Yaakov!

snowbunny3318 I am really sorry to hear that! I really don’t want to speak loshon harah here, so if theres any “loshon horah police” please help here. But i am really interested in lev bais yaakov, and was very impressed with rabbi sigal, and honestly I am really thinking abt. it as a serious option, but if it is litoeles, to the point where I really shouldn’t be going I’d really like to know, but on the other hand I’m really not interested in telling loshon horah for no reason. someone please help here. Again I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience, but “inapropriate stuff” really?

Honestly this is how I really truly try to view it. “kish echad beleiv echad”. We are all part of eachother. I try to realize that no matter how bad of a thing someone did to me, I’ve done plenty things I’d like to take back and you cant always, and as much as you may not be happy with what they’ve done, hashem is the one that really controls everything, and he really knows why someone did something, and I have absolutely no right to judge them/ not forgive them for something. Besides this point like I said we are all like one person, I wouldnt want to do something wrong to my arm, like hurting it by doing something stupid to myself, and if something happened to it, i’d want to try to help it as much as I can. The same thing with one of hashems creations of klal yisroel, were all part of hashems world and if one of them did something wrong to me, I hope to think that I’d want to try to forgive them to the best of my ability. K’siva Vichasima tova!

bpmum yes the more I had looked into meohr it does not sound like a crowd of girls for me.

Trying my best: Thanks for all the information, I had heard the name mentioned once or twice but I was very unfamiliar with how it worked.

Candy 613 :I really appreciate that you clarified things for me, as you said that may still not be the perfect fit, but I appreciate you letting me know that it would not necessarily stop me from applying there.

Again thanks so much!, all information is really appreciated, but if anyone has further information on darchei binah and/ or afikei that would be great πŸ™‚

Thanks so much,I really appreciate the suggestion. I had thought about it before, because I have only heard wonderful things about Ateres. Im not so familiar with the seminaries so I could definitely be wrong, but in all honesty although I really try to work on what I do listen to and watch I do listen to some non Jewish music ect. so I feel that might not be what ateres is looking for and another place may be a slightly better fit. As a side point though tznius is very important to me and I think I may feel more comfortable in a less intown type of school than Meohr. So far what sounds like they might be the best fit for me from what I know is Afikei or Darchei binah, although since im very unfamiliar I dont know if Afikei might be too modern and Darchei binah sounds like a great place although since I am not overly academic academic in textual hebrew I’m a little worried that could affect my interview, and I wouldnt be able to get in. Sorry that was so long, but if anyone does have any opinions or personal suggestions I would love to hear them πŸ™‚

Thanks for your reply! Im trying to find out about it from different sources, but i figured the coffee room would be a good start. They have an amazing website, but ofcourse every seminary is going to make theirs look good. Do you know if the girls are good girls? Obviously its hard to explain, and it is a generalization, but just to get an idea, how would you describe the type of girls that go there?

to be as a “kenegdo” for adam. Men can’t live without women. Hashem created chava as an “aizer” an assisting helper to adam. Men and women have opposite cochos on purpose, its to help eachother.

Alot of people say texting is bad becuase people dont have time to think and say things they wouldnt say actually infront of the person but when i text I usually read it a few times over and can backspace or delete what i say before i send it. In person I cant necessarily delete what I said. What are peoples opinions on this? btw i am so not saying that texting is better than talking in person!

    Baruch dayan emes

I just want to say that of course this has already been said above, but no one does know hashems plans, and they clearly are what they are for a reason! I can definitely say from personal experience that it isnt so easy to figure out why hashem did something, but you have to realize that in the end it was what had to happen, it could be for millions of reasons.

****Also a very important point I want to make is many times everyone is very helpful and caring, and making sure they are there for the family during shiva, which I want to make a point that this is a wonderful wonderful thing but then a few weeks or months or even years later this same family that still had the same tragedy happen to them doesnt have as much support and have people there for them! (not always true) I just want to say that this means so much to a family who has gone through a difficult situation to constantly have someone there for them, and not just when it first happened.

so i will tell u this starts and always a very opinionated battle back and forth ….thats kinda why toi made his comment, theres a lot of previous threads on it. I tried to get them for you but there mostly mixed with other seminaries in one thread so it may not help you. I was considering it for myself and i know someone there and she loves it in every way. It may not be right for everyone,so i cant really tell u its perfect for u since i dontr know you :p, but if you have any questions im happy to answer. In really short its a bais yaakov seminary, not so yeshivish, ik girls have a really close relationship with the staff, they go on tons of trips as well as learning and having AMAZING classes, and pninims focus is a little more to learn lishma rather than textual, reading inside chumash, but still have midterms, but not alot of work outside of class so gives girls some time to go to the koptel and enjoy the rest of yerushalaim

yeah i was just thinking that…ik some schools make a rule before hand that no one can talk abt. it for atleast a week after, which can definatly be very annoying but is nice for the girls who didnt get accepted…..btw you could probably ask a principal or a teacher to try to call and see if theres any way to push you into one of the seminaries

theobvious~ thats horrible :/ i was just talking to my friend even though seminary is amazing how messed up the situation of getting into seminary is. i know a few so called “perfect girls who didnt get in, and some people get in just because they have a prominent name or connections which isnt really fare for someone who doesnt have any………..( i dont mean this to sound negative against anyone)but just to give chizuk u should realize that just because you didnt get accepted doesnt mean ur not a wonderful or smart person, who has great midos etc.
