Perhaps Chareidim can become more “modern” and still be clearly Orthodox while MO who want to move to the left become otd. Also, MO do not want Rebbeim to influence their children, just to teach them. They can be very vocal about this. The lack of respect for religion rubs off on the children.

There was a case in Bork Park about 50 years ago where a Bobover chosid was stabbed to death on a Friday night walking home from shul. Shabbos morning a demonstration in front of the 66th precinct turned violent and the demonstrators broke into the building and trashed it. For those times that was a radical act to message that Jewish Lives Matter.

Bad idea, I can’t believe you’re serious about giving a handful of people the power to select the president. Bad enough the winner of the popular vote doesn’t become president. And that would make fraud much harder.

Feb Eliezer has the best argument. With Yomim Noroim coming up we need to show how we care for others, not focus on anything selfish.

How did the suburbs get into the discussion? Trump supports people who live in mansions. He gave them enormous tax cuts. They are not affected by COVID in their isolated environments helicoptering from mansion to vacation villa. They are laughing at Trump voters.

Many people feel strongly that others should live very moral lives. I say concentrate on yourself. We are in America and that is the best you can do.

I am not a doctor or a Rabbi but have many opinions. No idea how often I’m correct but I always feel correct. Facts don’t impress me as they may be fake. Judging from this thread I have a lot of company.

The Modern Orthodox looters can wear Yarmulkas, no black hats.

A large blind study was released today on this topic. “The take-home message for the general public is that if you’re exposed to someone with Covid-19, hydroxychloroquine is not an effective post-exposure, preventive therapy,” the lead author of the study, Dr. David R. Boulware, from the University of Minnesota, said in an interview.”The results are being published in The New England Journal of Medicine. I’m sure there will be more studies to come but this is an important one.

BTW, I agree with Accuracy and Accuracy that most people are listening to the rules. The mystery is why some people for religious reasons don’t listen to the major Rabbeim and Poskim.

I think these Chareidim have been raised on many stories where emunah triumphed over physical situations so they feel invulnerable. I disagree with that attitude but that is my take on it.
