I save tons of pesach food from yr to yr.. i have learnt that shoprite sells their food with 50% or more OFF during chol hamoed. All is kept well in a bug free closet. i have never had problems.. and i check. sometimes oil or matza meal for that matter has a little smell from being old.. so i save those packets for frying not baking.

and besides, do you really know whether the groceries are saving their stuff yr to yr? what do they do when pesach is over? certianly don’t throw it all out..

I like uniforms.. a smart school will not confuse uniforms with tznius.. Uniforms have many pluses besides for tznius.

My bigger issue is the schools preach tznius but only with regard to clothing. They totally miss the boat that – tznius is regarding our behavior, actions, & whole approach in life. Its the desire to NOT want recognition. yet the whole BY sysyem (in most places) seems to stress.. how each girl has to STAND out more than the next.. be in in play, GO, yearbook, trips, acadameia & all the other areas.

If tznius was approached as wholesome subject – not justa clothing issue.. the message might get through and be more long lasting..

my older kids never had issues..

then my younger kids needed. They failed hearing tests miserably! speech was becoming an issue..

once tubes were inserted, my daughter said her siblings name correctly within a week!!

my kids didn’t even get traditional infections.. their ear drum kept bursting and discharging!

i’m pretty conservative… & definately hold that most ear infections are viral, hence antibiotics are doing worse than good.

chiropracter & otrher methods can help this stuff etc.. but at end of day.. if child ear canal is too narrow.. and HEARING & SPEECH is being affected.. tubes is a pretty safe and quick proceedure.

metrodriver: you are right.. but isn’t that a sad world.. that people aren’t interested in accountability or transparency. or pehaps people are just going for the hype without much thought… Also sad!

I’m not bashing them.. just asking for an explanation.. and for people to think and not just follow like sheep..

    Do some research…

    forget paying the counsellors..

Their campus has more attractions and activities than any other camp.. just check it out online.. I have no problems.. if thats the way they think they will make people frum let them try… but who is paying for all of this? their campers definately don’t as most of the clientele they serve is more immigrant, disadvantaged crowd..

on the side.. people that get attracted to the ‘fun’ side of yiddishkeit.. normally end up leaving.. because that is NOT the basis of yiddishkeit.. and all gashmius looses its sparkle after some time..

Yes, the Neilmed sinus rinse is AMAZING. it stopped my brother’s snoring once & for all (after several years of it!!)

butyou have to do it consistently once or twice daily..

works great at preventing sinus infections too.

buy it at walmart/target or ebay…

They send jewish kids to Jewish school at no or subsidized cost to parents. Making sure that Jewish kids are in Jweish schools and not in public ones.

Having said that… i woudl love to see their financial records.. all their advertizing.. adn where the money is actulaly going at the end of the day. Their camp campuses must bost bilions to maintain…

where aer the results… I would love to see their sucess stories…

in reply to: Why do some wives (newlyweds) act like Mashgichim to their husbands? #701961

I think the issue here is NEWLY WED… boys in general adjust to marriage a little different to their female counterparts… and many a young wife cannot understand their husbands obsession with her especially at the expense of seder etc..

Fast forward a year or 2 or 5 and for the most part they have a healthy marriage with the husband learning stable and consistent.

The informmation above is not correct. There are TWO seminaries in Gateshead. The ‘OLD’ one that has been around since Rabbi Desslers days run by Rabbi Miller zt”l and Rabbi Kohn and the ‘NEW’ – Bais Chaya Rochel run by Rabbi Avraham Katz.

The OLD one is much bigger and tends to cater to a more academic and teacher orientated crowd.. but of course there are many overlaps.

Some points about the OLD Seminary.

    1. They teach alot.. but there is not a stress on academic – everyone works to best of their ability. You don’t even get test results back when you get them.. cause the results is not what is important.. its the effort and the hashkofos!

    2. Being that it is a 3 year program, you have a nice mix of different ages adn girls are friendly with girls from all classes. In general, the Seminary does not treat girls like kids and expects a mature attitude back. Typically, about 190 girls come in 1st year. Perhaps 10 leave by start of 2nd year.. many girls will get engaged or leave during/end 2nd year.. leaving perhaps 100 in teh 3rd year. Friendships are built over long time and very solid.

    3. They do NOT offer any extra college courses.. however there are some courses available in the community like computers etc which girls may take.

    4. Gateshead OLD really prepares you in an excellent way to be an amazing teacher. They give you tons of knowledge plus teaching experience in the school system.. but this is mainly concentrated in the 3rd year. Not every girl there wants to teach.. but here are many.

    5. Being in Gateshead is an experience.. compared to USA.. level of living is so much less gashmius and may come as a shock!

    6. Being the tremendous amount of applicants applying, it can be very difficult to get it.. and it is recommended that you get your teachers, frineds and even yourself to write letters to the Seminary explaining why you want to come.

What else do you want to know?
