“easier for them to handle” ?

You’re not deserting them, and if anything are doing them a favor by getting some much needed alone time with your spouse.

I don’t know what your situation is, but as a kid bubby coming to us to “babysit” was a lot of fun. You can tell them[use applicable names] “Mommy/Ima/Daddy/Abba/Tatte need to go take care of something(your mental health and relationship)and Savta will stay with you till we come back,”but with kids that young I don’t know if it will make a difference.enjoy your vacation!

    People HAVE TO DO CHESED!

It may be a newsflash to many. And just as if you are ‘not in the mood’ and grumbly and ‘yent’ from today to tomorrow, you still HAVE to put on tefillin and keep Shabbos etc..chesed is a Mitzva too!

NOW…there is room to say that if you already DO fufill this mitzva thru other acts of chesed that you don’t have to take on ADDITIONAL ones that are frustrating to you. However, the greatest room for growth is to do it when it is difficult. Baking cookies for your best friend who is sick is NOT a hard chesed to do. Inviting someone less fortunate who is a lil eccentric is.

Facebook isn’t inherently assur. If you use it for inappropriate things then you are using it to facilitate an aveirah. To put in perspective weddings and grocery stores aren’t assur either. BUT, if you use them to facilitate doing aveiros then maybe you shouldn’t go.You have to have seichel.

Smoking is inherently assur. You are endangering your life and those of the people around you (except according to the one poster who will claim 2nd hand smoke doesn’t exist-which isnt true, but I’ll preempt that comment) Besides the fact that I think no one has mentioned which is how expensive a habit it is. For guys either in Yeshiva or Kollel to be spending their parents, in-laws,and or wives money (@ the rate of $7-$12 a pack)is a . wrong and b.not being very moser nefesh for Torah if you ask me.

As a frum Jew who does attend college (albeit online- partially to avoid issues of immorality) some of these responses are absolutely crazy. It is no longer about Cadillacs, it’s just simple math. You cannot pay tuition for the average Jewish family, forget about food, rent, etc… on a high school diploma and the minimum wage job that will get you. Yes,there are yechidei segulah who can, either thru a unique skill, or working for their shver but the general population can’t do that. The same way there are yechidei segulah that become Gedolim! BUT everyone else has to live with REALITY! Something I realize people have a hard time with today…
