Gerrer chossid 24-year-old Shlomo Zalman Kuzlovsky Z”L drowned in the river in Uman where he went to toivel on erev yomtov. Kikar Shabbos reports that an eyewitness to the event explained toiveling in the river is dangerous and only those who can swim should entertain doing so. The victim was standing on a rock but he then took a step and there was a hole which is reported to be about 18 feet deep. That is where he drowned. He was transported to a local hospital while CPR was being performed.
An update from Uman on Thursday, 7 Sivan, reports R’ Shlomo Zalman z”l was niftar in the hospital. It is reported the niftar was originally a Gerrer chossid who became close to the Breslov hashkafa.

Why would anyone feel compelled to toivel in this hostile and anti-Semitic cesspool where tens of thousands of kadoshim were niftar (including many unrelated to the Nazis). Certainly Rav Nachman wouldn’t have considered anywhere in Uman a makom kadosh. Time to have his remains removed for burial in EY and save tens of millions of NIS (and future drownings) in the annual mindless Rosh Hashanah Pilgrimage
