Infant in Grave Condition Due to Heat is Niftar

The infant who was admitted to Ziff Hospital in Tzfas due to heat injury last week was niftar in the hospital. The family of the nifteres was traveling on vacation in the Hula Valley during the blistering heatwave. The father was admitted to the hospital in moderate condition and the baby girl’s condition was described as grave/life threatening as her core temperature was over 42 C (107.6 F). The child, Achinoam Meir z”l died early Shabbos morning after her vital organs shut down.

The mother explained to doctors when they arrived at the hospital that they were all drinking regularly and she was giving the baby fluids too and at some point, she realized Achinoam was no longer responding and they headed to the hospital, but by the time they arrived, her organs had shut down.

On Shabbos Parshas Eikev an 8-year-old girl arrived in Ziff Hospital and listed in moderate condition due to the extreme heat. She was in the Golan Heights area when transported to Ziff Hospital.

Last week, an IDF soldier died while visiting the Old City of Yerushalayim on an official military outing, once again due to the heat.
