3:00AM EST: Flatbush – YWN regrets to inform you of the tragic Petira of Moshe Berkowitz Z”L, a 25-year-old Yeshiva Bochur, who was R”L killed in a serious crash in Flatbush late Monday evening. Sources tell YWN that his vehicle was struck at a high rate of speed – possibly by a drunk driver. He was taken by Flatbush Hatzolah to Maimonides Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Misaskim volunteers were on the scene shortly after awaiting clearance from NYPD Investigators to perform their Avodas Hakodesh.

He is a Talmud at Yeshiva Ohr Yitzchok in Flatbush. His Rosh yeshiva, Rav Pinchos Wallerstein told YWN that Moshe Z”L spent every spare second he had learning in the Bais Medrash. he would walk across Flatbush on Shabbos, just to make sure not to miss a Tefillah in the Yeshiva.

His mother is currently in Eretz Yisroel, and is en route to the airport as of this posting to board a flight to New York.

The Levaya will been Wednesday morning at Yeshiva Ohr Yitzchok 1214 East 15 Street at 9:30AM.

This is a tragedy beyond belief.

An innocent Ben Torah was taken from us at the prime of his life.

May Hashem grant the family strength and bitochon during this terrible time.

  3. mr. berkowitz, as my son knew him, was his teacher last year. mr. berkowitz noticed and recognized my son’s potential and value and verbalized this to him. he told my son “you can and will be something important. organize yourself in your learning and behavior and interest and you will do amazing. you need help, you tell me and i’ll help you”. my son came home knowing he is and will be something special and important. mr. berkowitz, please tell H’K’B’H it’s time for moshiach now!!!

  4. Moshe A”H always had a smile on his face, willing to bring simcha and help anyone in need of chizuk! R’Fishel Schacter said at the Levaya that the least we can do is try to emulate his ma’asim tovim and be gomel chesed to all walks of life! He will be surely missed. May he be a mayletz yosher for his family, friends, students and all of klal yisroel. May we only hear of simchos & B’suros Tovos.
