Police of the 433 Lahav Unit have begun questioning Shas leader Minister Aryeh Deri and Mrs. Deri as the case probing alleged tax evasion moves into another phase.
As reported by YWN-ISRAEL, the investigation into alleged tax evasion by Deri and family members has been ongoing, and members of his family were questioned over a year ago. Police are now signaling the probe is in the advanced stage, adding Deri was questioned ‘under warning’, which indicates police are confident sufficient evidence has been gathered to move ahead with a criminal indictment.
Police have summoned fourteen persons for questioning in the case, including the director-general of a government ministry as well as senior officials in the Ministry of Negev & Galil Development, which Deri heads. All of the persons summoned for questioning are close to Deri.
According to a Ynet report, police on Monday, 4 Sivan, detained fourteen persons for questioning in a case dealing with real estate and alleged failure by Deri to report huge sums to income tax authorities.
The details of the ongoing case by and large remain under a gag order other than the fact persons are being summoned for questioning.
