Assemblyman Hikind, State Senator Adams, And The New Black-Jewish Alliance Condemn Anti-Semitic Attack In Crown Heights

hikind hate.jpgThe Black-Jewish Alliance, recently inaugurated by Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) and 40 citywide officials* (as reported HERE on YWN), has mobilized to condemn the latest anti-Semitic incident in Crown Heights. The alliance was formed in response to the 25% spike in hate crimes against the Black and Jewish communities since September 2007.

“Unfortunately, this is the latest in an outrageous series of hate crimes against Jewish victims,” Hikind said. “A 16-year-old yeshiva student was beaten last Friday night in a senseless attack that left him with a deep gash in his head (as reported HERE on YWN). He was beaten with a rock or other sharp implement. Throughout the vicious attack, the 5 black teens shouted anti-Semitic slurs, saying, ‘Oh, little Jew boy, you think you own this neighborhood? We’re going to kill you, little Jew.’

“Our communities must stand together to denounce these attacks and call that people come forward with any information they have,” Hikind said. “There will be zero tolerance for hate crimes against either community. When caught, these individuals will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Black-Jewish Alliance was formally launched on January 6th with a mission to call for tougher penalties for anti-Semitic and anti-Black violence, and to speak out in one voice when there is commonality. Hikind added, “The alliance will arrange forums to advance understanding between our communities, reach out to our youth, and create a new format for communication between Black and Jewish New Yorkers.”

  1. We to see a picture and a quote of a Black member of this alliance condemning Anti-Semitism, not Dov Hikind – that won’t accomplish anything!

  2. big deal! they get together, schmooze a little, pose for a photo-op, have some cake and coffee, oh, yeah by-the-way condemn the anti-semitic incident and magically all problems are solved. the orignal discussion re the alliance took place on Jan. 06, 2007. the attack took place less than 2 weeks later. so what does this alliance do – call a press conference. as I said at the beginning of the post: big deal!

(I nominate my own post as cynical post of the day) 🙂

  3. to mdlevine: take a number, please. We in CH are very cynical. Dov Hikind only shows up when it’s politically smart to be seen in this dump (yes I know, I choose to live here, but that’s a whole topic for another day.)

back to the point – unless the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council leaders (Moshe Rubashkin, Chanina Sperlin & others) actually get up from their leather recliners & do something & open their mouths against a useless police force we won’t see any difference. We are definitely second class citizens. Police reports aren’t taken, then they get lost, the cops show up under sufferance..the list goes on. We’re in deep trouble here. We’ve had murders, rapes, riots, you name it.

Nobody gives a hoot, especially Moshe Rubashkin. He has NEVER SAID A PUBLIC WORD to the community about the problems here. Why does he have the position if he doesn’t do anything?

  4. like i said when they formed this ”alliance”, its just a bunch of posturing. come on, they ”mobilized” to condemn this attack?! pathetic.

  5. I would like to ask all the pepole who are make comment’s remember not only yiden are reading this web site watch what you are riding ” the bottem line is we are in GOLES to put hate statments would not help” we have to talk on a nice way remember YAKOV OVINI put LEDORON ILETFILOH first before lemilchmoh . When I see a black person allways I say hello we are brothers from a diffrent mother try to make pepole united with you that way how we have to be

  6. harrys – so when you see a black person, you ALWAYS say hello – how nice! what about, white people? Asian, Latinos or other nationalities? do you greet every Yid that you see? No denying that it is proper to greet each person with a warm hello, however, your post seems a bit patronizing to me. (i must still be cynical about this whole alliance).
