Seven FDNY Members Hurt In 3rd Alarm Blaze


fdny.gifA 34-story apartment building was evacuated at 5:00AM on Thursday morning, after a blaze broke out in a a first-floor store at 200 East 72nd Street near 3rd Avenue. The FDNY said that two firefighters were seriously hurt in the three-alarm blaze on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Four other firefighters and 13 civilians suffered more minor injuries, the Fire Department said.

Approximately 140 firefighters battled the blaze at 200 E. 72nd St., and Third Avenue was closed between East 70th and East 73rd streets, officials said. The fire was under control by about 6:30 a.m.
