NYPD Shoot & Kill Knife-Wielding Man In The Bronx [VIDEO]


Police say officers have shot and killed a knife-wielding man in the Bronx.

It happened just after 7:30 p.m. Monday while officers were responding to a call of a man armed with a knife.

Police say two officers encountered the 52-year-old suspect chasing another man and ordered him to drop a combat style knife he was holding.

Police say the suspect refused orders to drop the knife and turned toward the officers, who then fired their weapons.

The unidentified suspect was struck and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The knife has been recovered.

NYPD Chief of Patrol Rodney Harrison released the following details of what happened:

At approximately 7:40PM police officers assigned to the 48th precinct responded to a 911 report of a man stabbed at 2131 Prospect Avenue in the Bronx.

As the two officers arrived at East 181st Street and Prospect Avenue they were informed that a male armed with a knife was chasing another male in the street.

The officer’s then encounter the male subject armed with a combat type knife chasing another male. The officer’s confronted the man and repeatedly directed him to drop the knife. The subject then turned towards the officers with the knife in hand. Then two officers discharged their firearm striking the suspect.

The suspect, whose name was not released by police, is a 52 year old male who was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A military knife was recovered at the scene.

The incident was captured on the body worn cameras.
