PHOTO: New York Yeshiva Donates Mezuza For Governor’s Mansion

The New York governor’s mansion now displays a Mezuza on its doorpost, thanks to a donation from HAFTR Yeshiva high school in Far Rockaway.

The mansion’s current occupant, Andrew Cuomo, tweeted a photo of the Mezuza hanging at the building in Albany.

“May this protection extend to all the people of New York”, Cuomo wrote.

  1. mezuza on a non jew’s door post??? What’s next, talis and Tefiilin [previous posuk]?
or maybe a mikva, sukka, …….

  2. I heard from a reliable source that there’s a kosher mezuza inside the case. I don’t know what they were thinking when they chose to do this.

  3. I was under the impression that it is not permitted to permanently give over a mezuzah to a non-Jew for fear that it may come to not be treated with respect. Is that not true?

  4. Chillul Hashem!

I protest strongly against the outrage.

It does not belong in a governmental building.

It is a Jewish sacred religious object.

    We are in golus.

Especially so, it is a desecration since NYS just a few short years ago, with the strong arm highly questionable tactics of the same Governor, pushed into law abomination legislation, when it redefined marriage in a way in opposition to our sacred Biblical heritage.

A state in open defiance of G-d’s law should not think that displaying a scroll of G-d’s law, which it brazenly violates, will give it protection from Heavenly justice.
